I agree, even as a fan with no rooting interest in this trade. This is dragging on forever.
Also, can a mod change the name of this thread? lol.

He's basically a mix of A-Rod and Tejada (in his prime on roids). Scouts say he does stuff at the plate they've never seen or even fathomed a 17 year old could do.
His ceiling his higher than Griffey? Somehow I have my doubts. And Tejada was never in Griffey's class, and not even Arod is. Talent wise Junior is better than everyone you mentioned. Injuries slowed down what would likely be the all-time HR king and one of the best defensive centerfielders we'll ever see.

I just thought it deserved comment. No harm meant.

You make a good point...I ignored the the defensive side of Truinfel. He's not in Griffey's league with the glove or as fluid athletically, but with the bat scouts say he's as good as Griffey at 17 years of age...if not better. They are drooling over him...the "safe" projections are Tejada in his prime/MVP year. Truinfel has a cannon for an arm, where as Junior's arm was pretty overrated. Its all speculation anyways...like I said he could flame out and not even make the league. I'm just scared that Skeletor's twin brother Bill Bavasi is going to trade away the next great Mariner for an injury prone pitcher. Us M's fans are a little sensitive over not being able to keep our superstars in town (Edgar and Ichiro are the exceptions).

Call me crazy, I'd actually take A-Rod over Junior. And I have a sweet spot for Junior. A-Rod doesn't play the same defense that Junior used to, but A-Rod would pass up a healthy Junior on the HR list. His healthy years are consistently better than Junior's healthy years. He also didn't have the luxury of being a lefty or the luxury of playing 11 years aiming for the Kingdome's little league distance right field wall. Both great players, but with the bat A-Rod is better IMO.

I wouldn't call EB injury prone. He's never pitched over 200 innings, but has come pretty close. While he has had the knee in 2005 and the oblique last year, he pitched all of '06 without problem. The oblique thing seemed kind of fluky anyways.

Injury prone may not be the word, but he's not a workhorse by any means. First the Tommy John surgery, then the knee, then the oblique all in a 4 year span. I think Bedard is great and will love watching him every 5 days, but I hate the price the M's are paying to have him.

BTW...the deal is now supposedly back to the original 5 for 1. This is the biggest clucker-F of a trade I've ever seen.

                      Done yet?

I'm tired of logging onto OH to see if the damn thing is finally finished, Angelos is evil incarnate.

"Not wonderment," he said when asked if he was surprising even himself with his hot hand in Virginia's 108-87 victory against Gonzaga on Wednesday night, when he scored a career-best 37 points. "I was just wondering why they didn't play more `D.

There's still the physical which I believe will be done at the latest by Friday of this week... so there's still a couple days for Angelos to screw things up.

I think the title of a Seattle newspaper article summed it up the best:

"when the dinosaurs roamed and the Bedard trade began"

Bedard's in Seattle for his physical. It will probably be announced tomorrow.

Per Ken Rosenthal, the Seattle Times, etc. the deal is done.

Hopefully its announced before Opening Day.

Final deal ends up being Bedard for Adam Jones, George Sherill, Chris Tillman, Tony Butler, and Kam Mickolio.
