Re: RogerClemensReport.com
See I think Clemens lied there. I mean how could he NOT know? Wouldn't he notice changes in his wife's body?
The guy is a boldfaced liar and will go down swinging. If anything if there's a gotcha! piece of evidence that pops up and Clemens still denies then his reputation is toast.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
the fan590(in toronto) they think that this will just go away and outside of the civil suits, nothing will happen to any parties present at the hearing.
A sports lawyer from NY is on the show and he agrees.
the only thing they all agree for sure on is that in the 'court of public opinion' clemens is filthy guilty.
All in all, should one player or hgh dealer fry for the larger systemic issue?
The john rocker thing is way bigger about being told how to 'use steriods effectively'
Nothing that was said at the hearing will do anything or make any difference as entertaining as it was...they also said this will be their final hearing on the subject.

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
you can't PROVE anything...they could have that hearing 100 more times and nothing would change.
The needle evidence is useless and would not be admitted as evidence to convict Clemens.
I think the hope was to get clemens to admit what he did by making it impossible for him to dance around the issue...it reminded me of bush's and o'reily's "brutal dictator, WMD" crap. Unless Clemens admits willingly that he did the drugs, he'll be fine.Liquor in the front, poker in the rear.Comment

When Rep. Elijah Cummings said, "I've listened to you very carefully, and I take you at your word. And you're telling me that Andy Pettitte is an honest man, and his credibility is pretty much impeccable. … You said you were misunderstood. But all I'm saying is, it's hard to believe. It's hard to believe your story.
"I hate to say that. You're one of my heroes. But it's hard to believe you."
That hit hard. Growing up in New Hampshire, Clemens was my hero as a kid. My dad watched him throw his first career complete game win as a rookie the day I was born and watching him, at times, bury himself today was pretty rough. I want to believe he didn't take anything, but I can't.Last edited by Misfit; 02-13-2008, 08:04 PM.Comment

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
Did anyone else who watched the hearing today think that Dan Burton made an absolute fool out of himself today. If you don't know who this guy is, he's the congressman from Indiana who totally ripped into McNamee about having lied in the past. At first I was taken back and thought that McNamee was getting killed, then I thought about it... McNammee has admitted he's lied in the past, just like almost every other person who gets caught up in steroids does at first. McNamee's past lies do hurt his credibility a bit, but if you think about it, shouldn't that fact that he's come clean about those lies serve him as well. I mean, why would he keep lying if he's trying to clear his name. Burton made a fool out of himself by getting all fired up over something that everyone already knew and had been addressed, then he goes and calls Clemens a "Titan of baseball" to top it all off to show his strong bias. This guy has been an idiot before and was an idiot today. The fact that Burton was Clemens biggest supporter today shows what kinda day Roger had in Washington.Comment

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
Really isn't enough to get Bonds either but guess what he is being indicted. As for going down the road with Bonds vs Barry what ever we all know whats up.
And as far as I'm concerned they both took them but really who cares by the looks of things 70-80 of MLB was taking them at some that in time IMO. Barry should have signed some autographs and had dinner with some of the CONgressmen and all would have been good.Comment

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
He said he lied to the committee. I must have missed it. Seriously, when did he? I never heard that. He lied numerous times. But I never heard him admit to lying to them. He lied to others. But they had no legal expectation to the truth.
After watching that spectacle, neither party had any credibility. I would never convict Clemens based on McNamee's "evidence" or testimony.
But I still say Roger was juiced based on what I know about athletes. We remember that poll that asked Olympians if there was a drug that would guarantee them a gold medal, but kill them w/in 10 years, would they take it. & 50% said they would. That tells you the mindset of the top notch athlete. If they are willing to take an enhancer that's guaranteed to kill them, what are they willing to do when the future isn't certain?
That's why, w/all the circumstancial evidence surrounding him, I say Roger did it. Not because McNamee said he did.Originally posted by VP Richard M. NixonI always remember that whatever I have done in the past, or may do in the future, Duke University is responsible one way or the other.
Thanks, dookies!Comment

Re: RogerClemensReport.com
Pettite's deposition
here's an excerpt:
Q Can you give me a ballpark, a couple years or
something like that?
A It had to be in '02, '03 -- no. I would say '03.
'03 or '04 maybe.
Q And do you mind sort of telling me the story of that
conversation, how it came about, what you said?
A Well, we were -- we were at my -- we were at my
house. You know we were in -- and I have a gym. We were
training in my gym. And I can just remember, you know, Mac
telling me that Roger, you know, that he had gotten steroids
for Roger.
Q Was it just you and McNamee there at the time?
A Yes.
Q Do you remember anything else about it?
A I just -- I remember that Mac was upset. I just
remember that Mac was upset and he was venting and he was --
you know, he was telling me that that, you know, that Roger,
you know, had done steroids.
Q Do you remember why McNamee was upset?
A Yeah. I believe -- I believe it was -- I believe --
McNamee was working with a company called Invite, who makes
a vitamin, which is a very good product. I still use it
today. It's a good multivitamin. But Mac had asked me and
Roger to do some sponsor promoting for it. And they were
trying to work out deals -- you know, we were trying to work
out a deal, compensation, stuff like that. Well, our
understanding from -- my understanding from Mac was the
company wasn't able to pay us a lot of money, you know, to,
you know, have us, you know, maybe in their little brochure
that they send out and stuff like that. And I just told Mac
that I said, I mean, I don't want any money. If they give
me the vitamin, I think it's a great vitamin. I hadn't been
sick since I had been on this vitamin. And just you know
I'd love to keep taking it. And just give me the vitamin.
I don't want any compensation for it. And I remember Mac
just being extremely mad and saying, you know, that Roger
wanted to get a lot of compensation for it as far as
money-wise. So that's really all I remember about the
conversation, that Mac was kind of venting, you know, just
venting about, you know, that. That's really all I remember
about the conversation.[/U]
Q Were you surprised to hear that Clemens -- that
McNamee was saying that Clemens had used steroids?
A Yeah. I mean, that surprised me. But I just kind
of -- to tell you the truth, I just like, just kind of blew it offLast edited by ZB9; 02-13-2008, 09:21 PM.Comment
