Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
Does anyone else think it's silly to play an actual regular season game in Japan @ 5:00 AM when spring training games are still being played here? Isn't this supposedly "America's Pastime?" I just think the whole idea is dumb. If they want to play in Japan, they should be exhibition games.Comment

How can it be opening day if you still are going to play spring training games afterwards?"You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
Not a good outing for Street. He intentionally walks Ortiz with a man on base to face Ramirez. Ramirez then hits a 2 run double to put Boston ahead 6-4 in the top of the 10th. Ramirez now has 4 RBI's today. Street is relieved by DiNardo."You got it man. I don't watch hockey." SidVish"I thought LeBron James was just going to be another addition to help me score."

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
Im in the same boat as you, I think its stupid. I really dont get all this garbage Im reading, Boston comes back after opening the season to play some more spring training games against the Dodgers? Then they finish the series against Oakland after that? Meanwhile Oakland comes back and plays SF in spring training, none of this makes any sense and if they want to keep playing some games in Tokyo then why not get the schedule setup correctly?Comment

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
I'm pretty damn sick but I dragged myself out of bed to watch a good chunk of this game and fell asleep after due to feeling sick after the Red Sox took the lead 3-2 I assumed they won the game right?
Oh and it's nice to see that Japanese crowds are as quiet as Toronto crowds LOL!Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
They ended up winning 6-5 in 10 innings.
Moss hit a homer in the HR in the top of the 9th to tie the game at 4, Manny hit a 2-run double in the top of the 10th for the 6-4 lead, and Oakland got a run in the bottom of the 10th.Comment

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
Everyone's questioning why the MLB is doing this, isn't it obvious?!? The money of course!
Everyone's making out, from the league itself, right down to the coaches. Japan is throwing cash at them, and they'll take it. Don't we know how the MLB operates by now?Comment

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
I dont think anyone is doubting that I just wish they would have either cut short spring training for both teams to compensate for going to Japan to open the season or they could have gone to Japan after spring training was officially over and not a week before the rest of the league starts playing games. I can see why they might not have wanted to have it right at the start due to time travel and the whole internal clock issue but then cut their spring training short, when Boston and Oakland come back and finish their spring training schedule I would be surprised if they actually played any of their starters so it seems pointless to me.Comment

Re: Countdown to Opening Day 2008!!!
Hardens looking pretty good tonight, if anyone is up and watching the game that is. The one humerous part was when the announcer kept going on about how awkward it will be between A-Rod and Giambi, apparently he is stuck on the fact that he thinks Giambi is the one who wrote the book and not Canseco. To make matters worse, when Steve Phillips corrected him, the guy kept going on about how the Yankees needed to sit both Giambi and A-Rod down and how tough it was going to be to do but it had to be done, apparently the time change has altered his ability to listen.Comment
