    waivers

I hadn't seen this mentioned...so to save anyone some hardship.....if you put someone on waivers in this game and he is claimed.....you are not given the opportunity to pull him back(which is what you can do in reality).....It was no huge loss for me....I was trying to send Mark Guthrie down and...boom...he was gone....no big loss....I probably would have let the Rockies have him anyway...but still this does inhibit flexibility especially if it comes to trading after the trade deadline...
I'm enjoying the hell out of this game....but with traded players disappearing and the waiver wire being a point of no return....it eliminates any aggressive or major trading during the season....I guess I'll have to play it like football does.....you go with what you got.

    Re: waivers

I've done odd man trades and releases people, and never once have I seen a player dissappear. Period, no one. They don't dissappear on the PS2 game, not mine, and mine isn't different from anyone elses. And you can pull a guy back from waivers after the trade deadline, thats how they pull off trades after the deadline. You can't do it before the deadline, but afterwards, yes you can pull someone back.

        Re: waivers

Why would I make this up? Both things have happened to me....Instead of accusing me of being a liar, why don't you offer some constructive solutions as to what the problem might be? Are my settings wrong? Can there be a glitch in an individual disk?
I have had a one for one trade where both players completely disappeared from the game....or atleast from the league in my current franchise. I optioned a player to the minors knowing he would need to clear waivers. A popup confirmed that he would have to clear waivers first. I OK'd it. The very next popup on my screen was that he had been claimed by another team. I clicked ok assuming the next pop up would be an opportunity to choose whether to pull him back or let him go. There was no next pop up. The player was on the roster of the team that claimed him. Again why would I make this up?

ok....I missed the last part of your post about the waivers. Thanks for explaining that. But, again the disappearing players thing has happened to me and others. To simply state that because it hasn't happened to you means that anyone who says it has happened is a liar is the height of arrogance. I congratulate you for your baseball rules knowledge; you've set me straight a few times. But, you should have more tolerance for people not as brilliant as you.

I'm not calling you a liar. I am simply stating a fact that people don't understand how to use the game for some reason. Lack of common sense, maybe? I've made two uneven trades, and all the players are still on the correct roster, no one dissappeared...now they might have released some suck *** D rated player, and he might have dissapeared, but all players involved in trades remain on the correct teams. I read a post, where someone said you have release someone before accepting a 2 for 1 trade, thats incorrect, your roster can hold as many players as you want it to hold, but inorder to get out of the GM screen you will have to decrease it to the correct number. I can put 20 guys on my high minor roster, but I can't leave til I fix that, but no one dissappears, or is active but you cant find them. But I'm not going to argue that some D- rated player doesn't stay in the game in you release him. Liar, certainly you are not. Foolish....confused.....uninformed.....very possibly.

                    Re: waivers

                    OK...then inform me....

the first trade I attempted I had no problem....I traded Joe Borowski from my high minors to Oak. for Scott Hatteberg who was an active ML'er...no problem....everything fine....

trade two..... I accept a trade offer from Texas involving Mike Sirotka for Hank Blalock. The trade is accepted....the transaction shows up....but I can not find either player.....anywhere....the next sim day.....it shows up on the transactions that I acquired John Turner(?) a 3B from Tex and mention of the Blalock-Sirotka deal is gone and the players are still missing. Meanwhile, there is no John Turner that shows up anywhere in my Cubs system. ???

trade 3---- I accept Toronto's trade offer of Ken Huckaby(High Minors) for Eric Karros (active ML). A salary dump for me and a much needed right handed bat for Toronto...as I checked their roster to make sure it made sense for them to make that trade offer....Huckaby shows up in my HM and has since been promoted to ML roster. Poor Bluejays, though....Eric Karros is off to the nowhere land of Galt's Gulch with Sirotka and Blalock. He's gone. The transaction was on the transaction wire and has remained there.

Please enlighten me as to my stupidity

                        Re: waivers

I think with Mark Guthrie the reason you lost him was because he was out of options. I tried to send Warren Morris down even though he was out of options and lost him to the D-Rays. How it's different after July I don't know. But I think you lost Guthrie because of this. Maybe after July you get the choice to pull him back because you can only trade a player who has cleared waivers then.

As for trading, I made the 1 for 2 deal in my defunct franchise and lost the second player. Why? I don't know. He was listed as inactive and at no point was I given the choice to activate him. I made room for him after the trade but he never became active. Eventually, on the transactions page his name became a vacant slot. If the ASB genius who keeps responding to your posts can liberate me of my stupidity too I'd love to know what I did wrong. For now, I'm going to assume I needed to make room for him before I made the trade. And if I try it again, I'll make sure to save my progress up until that point because a game as deep as this is sure to have a bug here and there. It's still a brilliant game.

Funny how people can claim your guys off waivers, yet you can't do the same to them, something they need to do in next years game.
