    Re: waivers

hi dce....nice to hear from another delusional, stupid person who loves the game too.....I understand the deal with Guthrie now thanks to you and the ever great ASB genius....but the trade snafu(that the two of us are imagining or making up for the bizarrest of reasons) is still unexplained. I have three or four spots on my minor league rosters open...so I don't think that was my problem.....the only thing I can figure is that since I acquired Blalock, a MLer for Sirotka, a high minor player, that left 26 men on my ML roster and that just kicked him off into never land. It would seem though (from the perspective of this idiot) that I would have been prompted to make a roster move or Blalock(who I'm sure as a moron can be) has options-since last year was his 1st appearance in the majors-would have been assigned to an open slot in the high minors.
And...maybe I'll just wake up one morning and Blalock, Sirotka,Karros, and the mysterious John Turner will be at my bed side wiping the fevered sweat off my delusional brow.

        Re: waivers

There is a point after the trading deadline when other teams WILL try to pass guys through wavers in order, I imagine, to trade them. You can claim them there, to block the trades, but have to look out because you might have to take them. Remember though, if it doesn't happen, the wavers go through the teams in reverse order of standing, so, if you've got a good record you might never see one.

As for now, I really don't think anyone out of options on other clubs has been sent down, or that has even been tried. You can't send a guy without options to the minors. If you try, they can be claimed by other clubs. It's a real rule.

hey rag.....opportunities to claim someone off waivers should come up for you at some point....I've had 2 or 3 pop ups asking if I wanted to claim so and so; but I wasn't interested in any of them) One of them was Vinny Castilla.....I don't remember the other one or two.

Raagner, did you check out the ASB Rulebook? I believe it goes into detail as to which situations you will not have the option of taking a guy back if another team claims him off waivers.

Definitely read the rule book. If you sim a season you'll see there are plenty of opportunities to claim someone off waivers.

                            Re: waivers

You can definitely claim waivers but its weird, not everybody without options who gets sent down goes on waivers. I have seemed to notice a trend when simming random seasons and that there are specific dates when players go on waivers, for instance every May 5th 2 players are available on the waiver wire. Strange. But I did claim Doug Glainville in my first year with the Mets and the 2nd year that I am currently playing now I claimed Carl Everett and this allowed me to get rid of Cedeno and platoon him and Perez, but the odd thing is that I claimed him on what date??? May 5th, lol

thanks everybody for setting me straight on the waiver situation.....but does anyone have any answers for why I'm having problems with the trading(other than saying it's not really happening)....I'm really going to be reluctant to try another trade until I get some kind of idea of what I did wrong or what I'm missing or whatever.
My Cubs have a 2 game lead at the end of May. It would suck not to be able to make a trade near the deadline to put me over the top for fear of losing both the player(s) I trade and trade for. thanks again
