Bean, the metered batting is identical to Baseball Advance, minus the guess pitch location lock on. It is one of 3 batting options.....and doesnt necessarily expand at all on the system. Nevertheless, if you liked Baseball Advance, just imagine that system with the rest of the game package around it and its pretty great!

Yeah, strider.....when you get used to thinking of it representing your batters stride, it really is just too fun.

I'm a little confused on the power swing thing. If you start it during the pitcher's windup, are you committed to swinging at the pitch or can you still check swing? It seems like if you start it that early then when you let up on the button it just means you'll have a weak swing, so if the pitcher throws a ball you're screwed because you can't stop. Or is it a different button?

Also, has anyone confirmed (I haven't seen it in the Fatpitcher thread) that in non-cursor hitting you still aim your bat high, low, left and right? If so, that's different than what we were hearing before the game came out, but it sounds pretty cool.

I believe you can still check swing but you gotta be real quick.

And I tried many times and I could not aim my batting it was purely timing, purely timing, no aiming for me, purely timing.

Cardinal, you are not forced to swing once you start your stride (meter). Essentially, you press and hold the swing button at the appropriate time (during the pitchers windup, depending on what your guessing is coming at ya) and the meter starts to move upward. Think of this as transferring your weight. To actually initiate your swing, you release the button. If you do not release the button, no swing, you simply take the pitch. The key is to start your stride at the right time so if you decide to swing, your meter will be fully charged which simulates a perfectly timed swing in rythm. After your meter peaks, it starts back down.....so if you started your stride too early, it will peak early and you will have a bail-out swing. Start your slide too late and it simulates a late reaction and again, while making contact, you wont have full force behind it. To hit a homerun the whole thing has to come together. Much like in real baseball, you approach every pitch with full preparation to swing, and decide somewhere along the way NOT to swing. This is the opposite of the traditional baseball game, where you can decide at the last second TO swing, with no ill results. Its a great system that takes mucho practice to get great at.

Well I just realized something, even with PP swinging, you still have power and contact swing, which is why I wasn't hitting homers I was only using contact. I wish they made PP swinging only one button, makes more sense like that.

This is what I asked earlier in this thread..Is it true, then, when you power pro swing on normal swing, does max meter only give you max 'normal' power?

Yeah, it's near impossible (haven't done it yet and I was playing two players and pitching it right down the pipe to myself) to hit a homer with a contact Power pro swing at max meter.

FP says that it's the same swing using A or B (or X and O for PS2).
