I have read some complaints that pitchers too often get taken out too early. For instance, I remember reading that Wood has been taken out in the 6th for a pinch-hitter with the Cubbies ahead 6-0, 12-0 etc. I am wondering whether this is really a flaw in the game AI or not (by the way, just so people take this with a grain of salt, I think MVP is the best sports game I've played in a long while).
One thing that I thought of was pitch counts (which the game unfortunately does not keep track of - argg). If Wood has thrown 100 pitches by the 6th inning, it might make sense that he be taken out even when the Cubs are ahead 6-0. If he's only thrown, say, 60 pitches, then this bears a closer look. Perhaps people who have mentioned this as a possible problem should take a game or two and count pitches. See how many pitches are thrown by a computer-controlled pitcher before they're taken out even when they're pitching well.
Along those lines - has anyone here pitched a complete game? A complete game victory?? Had the AI pitch a complete game against you?? Had the AI pitch a complete game for a loss?? Etc.? Let's hear about it!!
