Need to make some noise and get EA to fix or patch the upcoming PC version. Couldnt hurt.

If EA makes the same committment to next year's version of MVP as it made to this first edition, this game will be amazing next year.

it's pretty damn amazing this year.

Also watch a few replays in Slo Mo.....The collision detection for the ball to bat is the best I have ever seen.....you actually see the fluid contact right to point an location on the bat. Very well done.

Couldn't agree with you more on this point! The ball collision physics in this game is HEAD AND SHOULDERS above all the others. I just love watching the bat-ball contact in slo-mo. Actually, it's pretty cool to watch a swing and a miss in slo mo to see how much your timing was off. It's amazing how CLOSE some of the swings are yet you still don't make contact.

Re: Some NICE MVP TOUCHES in the game....

Extreme, my first impressions led me to really beleive I was going to return this game. The initial shock of this game jilted me at first because I was really used to the slower driven ASB 2004 engine which I truly enjoy. Plus I saw a few problems with the game that were completely unacceptable for a game that is trying to compete on a realistic level.

However, the more I began to play, the harder it was to decide to really take this game seriously enough to let it bother me. In fact, once I simply convinced myself that this truly was not as deep a game as some of the other the games, I was really able to appreciate what MVP brings to the table.
This immersiveness and way in which this game allows you the control over the pitching and timing hitting of a baseball game simply beckoned me back for another game...and another. It draws you in and makes you crave to play it again.

At first I really was frustrated with alot of things missed, or just not tweaked to perfection, but as I realized this game isnt a replacement for my other favorite baseball game but rather a nice addition that I can load up and just play without really having to worry about the depth, I was able to really enjoy it.
I think the only people that may be very dissapointed are the ones that expect this game to be on a depth level such as some of the other titles....which it is simply not. Regardless of how EA wants to try and market this game. If you simply accept the fact that this is an advanced Triple Play with a much more immersive Batting and Hitting engine that sucks you in, you'll be able to enjoy it.

Sure it has some bothersome problems, For me, off the top of my head, some of them are they are:

                * CPU Hitters can be set up and fooled realistically but fail to really go after enough junk out of the strike zone. it will happen, but simply not enough as I feel they should. Overpowering pitchers with real nasty stuff, should make hitters look more foolish....more often

                * Pitchers are too effective at hitting at the plate and are almost as difficult to get out as regular hitters.

*Baserunning is scaled excellent except to first base, for some reason either hitters dont get out of the box quick enough or the grounders just get to the fielders gloves unproportionately too quickly resulting in players being thrown out at first way too easily.

The CPU's AI is very thin....it seems to have been programmed to make all the fundamental replacements, adjustments and moves BUT it fails to look deeper into the big picture of situations where I have come across a player like Lance Berkman being pinch hit for in the 7th inning just to get the right Lefty vs Righty matchup at the plate...or Pitchers getting pinch hit for in a inning when they are pitching a 4 hit shutout, ect.

*The fielding has a very Triple Playish feel and pace to it as well....Players like to do everything in stride and on the run and the speeds at which some of the animations play out are a bit too fast yielding a very frantic feel and pace to the game

                * Pitchers get yanked too early by the CPU, they seem to either expend too much of their 'pitching meter gas' too early or the CPU AI is just a bit wacky in regards to this

*Overcharging your fielders throwing arms arent as risky or useful as they could/should be....especially on infield throws since the runners simply dont get down to first quick enough to force players to have to make hard throws

                * Fatigue is based only on 'Pitch Meter Juice expended' and not on actual pitches thrown...so in essence, if you pitch an entire game without charging your meter, you can have a completely fresh pitcher

*The Franchise mode has some exciting new features such as Manager Goals, Game Momentum, and Importance but it still is pretty thin in terms of its GM and Career depth in comparison to other titles.

                * There are some fielding oddities like players not applying the tags but rather they step into a set to throw motion on some plays, The exaggerated exciting over-the-top catches and dives can sometimes be a bit too much and rarely will you see an increase in a possible error resulting from these

                * Also there seems to be a slight player hitch in the wrong direction when fielding control switches over to your player at times resulting in your player losing a stride or step in the process of getting to the ball

                * I havent seen any wild pitches, catchers cannot snap throw to a base to catch runners leaning, The pickoff game doesnt seem to really do much ( however maybe I havent used it enough to see this effectively work )

                * Errors in general dont seem to happen at a realistic proportion and the differences between Defensive Ratings for players in the field plays almost no signifigance because most players can field like acrobatic superstars

Im sure there are plenty more things that could be bothersome to some baseball fans....but even with all these 'issues' the Batting and Pitching engine and the level of control and simplicity I am given with it almost makes me overlook these concerns and lets me concentrate on having a good time and get INVOLVED in the gameplay more than some of the other titles.
As long as you know what your getting into and dont expect this title to replace your salivating needs for a deep and involving simulation of baseball that captures every aspect of the sport, then you should have a good time PLAYING the game.

Hopefully next year MVP can add the depth and scale the gameplay, GM features, and Player development to more realistic proportions.....but as it stands now, I dont take this game too seriously, i dont worry about seeing some oddities, and I really am having a blast playing it.

I can appreciate that. At least you have given the game an honest chance and are now appreciating it. I gave ASB a good chance and couldn't get into it, many others love it, that's the great thing about this year, 4 GREAT baseball games. This year there is a baseball game for everyone. Enjoy!!

BTW, I have MVP and WSB. Had HH and ASB but both went back, I don't think I can play 2 games, let alone 4!! LOL Had to make a hard choice there with HH.

I'll be completely honest here, I love ASB...i think there is so much depth in that game and its even more evident now with the release of all the baseball games, however, with that said, getting back into that game after playing so much MVP was difficult simply because the batting and pitching felt so unimmersive.
Pitching felt somewhat lacking or simplified and the batting system felt a bit unjustly overcomplicated. Striking out wasnt as much a result of lack of timing as it was just improper cursor to ball reflexes.
I still love the game it brings to the table, but MVP has actually forced me to play it a bit differently now so I can appreciate BOTH games fully.

I actually just played a game where Kennedy of Tampa Bay went deep into the 7th inning. I was taking a load of pitches too. The difference? I only had about 4 hits on the game and the score was 0-0. It seems as if the CPU has a strategy when the opponent has reached a certain amount of hits in the game...b/c I've seen 0-0 scores and the starting pitcher get yanked in the 3rd inning (in those games I've had like 4 hits an inning, but b/c of bad baserunning I would lose out on scoring).

So, I think hits might have somethin to do with it. It's possible. I'll test it somemore as the situations come up.

Use it more...the pickoff game is efficient. I've caught guys sleeping beautifully. Remember, pickoff rating has alot to do with it. My first pickoff came with Pettitte on the mound (98 in Pickoffs). The CPU is also more conservative as you continue to throw to first. They take a smaller lead and hesitate to run.

                                * Errors in general dont seem to happen at a realistic proportion and the differences between Defensive Ratings for players in the field plays almost no signifigance because most players can field like acrobatic superstars

I've noticed that Range is huge in the game. Playin with Robin Ventura I rarely see a diving play because he's always around the ball. I played one game with the slower Vinny Castilla and the guy was diving all over the place to reach the ball.

The big issue is that there seems to be a missing %meter or somethin for different positions. There doesnt seem to be a loss in playing a 1B at CF. I guess only range will affect that...but i'm not too sure.

--All in all I think this game is great. I'm gonna go out and say that this is the most fun i've had playing a baseball game since Triple Play 96 and Tony LaRussa 95 (Genesis for both).

WSB last year was a fun game but I just didnt enjoy it as much. ASB just got way too easy.

MVP seems perfect so far...but only time will tell. I'll like to see everyone's reaction come June when this game has been played a whole deal of a lot.

And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
