I just traded Dean Palmer for the Astros #1 draft pick (suckers!!) who was in the high minors, I think, and came across no problem, though I was all set to re-start my system... The minor leaguer was put in my low minors, where I believe he replaced one of the D- minus players we're all given at the start of our franchise, which is fine... so I've still only seen the one instance of losing a real player...

... nikeford, I too have the PS2 and have had the one issue in trading so far... but you shouldn't take offense to other people losing their players, it's happening to them, and it's for real. Perhaps you've ended up with the golden copy of the game.

Oh, I'm not taking offense to the issue...I was simply wondering if it is related to a particular system. As is everyone, I'm trying to ask questions to see if we can get to the bottom of the problem, or a way to figure out how it happens. Thats why I did a dozen random odd man trades in my franchise. I've to come up with a situation where I lose a guy, everytime I do the trade, I'll have the extra guys in my roster, and from the adjust roster screen I simply do what needs to be done to get the roster to allowable limit. Perhaps you need not jump to conclusions that someone is taking offense to something.

You can trade players for draft picks?? Can anyone explaine how to do this??

You cannot trade for draft picks.....MLB does not allow this. I think the previous post meant he traded for a guy that was the team's first round draft pick.

I have the PS2 version and have released a couple of players only to have them completely disappear. Can't find them on the free agent list or in minors.

Check the transaction list. They may have been picked up by another team,Ive noticed they don't sit too long
