July 31st is just the non-waiver trade deadline.

You have to clear waivers in order to be traded right now or be traded to the team that claims you on the waivers. The waiver order is the reserve of the standings. If you pass through and no one claims you then you can be traded to anyone.

1530 AM out of Cincinnati is reporting Dunn will be playing right field for the Diamondbacks. He has to have one of the weakest arms in right field in baseball. Good luck to both Dunn and the D-Backs.

I don't think the D-Backs signed him for his arm.

Actually the waiver order is reverse standings in the same league, then reverse standing in the other league.

So in this situation the NL-best Cubs had a chance to claim Dunn before the AL-worst Mariners.

I was thinking about saying something like that, but then there would be a bunch of people some in and argue about his obp and all that stuff so I steered away from it.

Well he provides offensive punch that the Snakes needed but I don't know how great that is when he's whiffing at a huge rate and his average sucks.

I can already hear the SABR geeks pulling out their calculators and fancy equations that will justify said average.

Actually, I was just going to mention his 32 homeruns.

We already have another thread on the other stuff. We don't need to add to it.

Why does nobody complain about Ryan Howard's strikeout rate and low batting average this season but completely slam Dunn for the same thing?

Well I personally think Howard is overrated as well but no one's asked my opinion of him soo
