What was Cincy demanding for him earlier in the year? You can't just assume since he wasn't moved before that he isn't valuable or in demand. There are plenty of very good players that are very difficult to move because teams aren't giving up on prospects easily.
I don't know what Cincy was demanding, and you can't rely too much on what is posted on the internet, but at www.mlbtraderumors.com there were several posts on there talking about how nobody was interested in Dunn.

And while I do think personally that a lot of teams didn't show interest, you just never know what is happening behind closed doors. It isn't like there were video cameras in the GM's office or anything.

But I do agree with Jake that there at least seemed like there weren't many, if any teams really interested in Dunn.

That's mlbtraderumors for you. mlbtraderumors, aka Baseball National Enquirer.

Like you said, we don't know what's going on behind closed doors and so much of what is leaked is garbage anyways (half of it started by opposing GM's).

I have a really hard time believing there are GM's out there that wouldn't be interested in Adam Dunn for an average single A pitcher, a batting practice AAAA pitcher, and a ptbnl during the season. Cincy got scared they'd be stuck and lowered their asking price just before the deadline.

And I like I said earlier, trying to trade a player during the season eliminates nearly half the possible trade suitors since they're out of the race and don't need a rent-a-player. Can't accurately measure how much interest there will be for Dunn during the offseason by comparing it to trade interest during the middle of the season. Apples and Oranges.
