Medium Variable is the way to go. It's good, because when the control pitchers miss their mark (which they will), they don't miss it by much. Every once in a while you will get a ball hung over the plate, but not that often. It's great.

My only comment/concern with going Med. Varaible pitching is drawing walks. Can you still draw walks? What is your CPU Throw Strikes slider at?

"CPU Throw Strikes" is set on 1. I get walks, although I am a bit of a free swinger at this point. But if you are disciplined, you'll get your share.

Wow. This is a great sign. I switched to medium and I just played two great games with 3-2 and 4-3 scores. I drew 2 walks each game, but I should have drawn more. My CPU Throw strikes setting was at 15 and I may drop it lower.

I think my CPU Throw Strikes is set on 25. I average about 1-2 walks per game but should be getting 2-4 (I swing way too much).

I still walk batters every once in a while, my walk ratio is no different if HVP is on as compared to MVP. The only difference between the two is that on HVP the CPU gets a slew of hits because the ball coasts over the plate way, way too often.

I'll have to try this too. I didn't even know variable pitching affected the computers pitching, i thought it was only for user controlled pitches.

anothe question. Do you notice 4 and 5 starting pitchers to have more control issues than the 1 and 2s. Bascially, with Med Variable pitching, are you seeing pitchers perform like they would in real life. Randy Johnson and Schilling and Maddox hitting their spots, while the 4 and 5 starters are not as good?

Anyone try turning it off for them?

I think it's one of the options you can switch for them but keep the same for you (hit X to switch between the teams in the options menu in game).
