Wow. I didn't know one player could all that stuff by himself. Forget the rest of the team! It's just Pujols!

Re: NL MVP Discussion
Yes, you are the OS Baseball God **bows down** but uh, you get a little chink in the armor by saying Utley wouldn't have been a bad choice. He was a major scrub since the All Star break.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
He wasn't as good after the break than he was before (it would have been ridiculous to maintain that pace for a whole season), but his "major scrub" second half was better than howard's whole season and people seem to think he's a candidate. Not saying you do, but its obvious some do.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
"Wasn't as good" is a complete understatement. Not doing as well is alright, but he nose-dived actually starting before the break and didn't recover until August. He was actually a hindrance on the team and a big reason why the Phils lost the big lead in the division.
I know one thing...he's not helping now, either lol. Good thing everyone else is hitting.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
Ankiel tearing it up first half, goes down.
Glaus = streaky.
Ludwick = consistent from the get go.
Howard or Utely both have had a consistent batter get on base ahead of them (Rollins).
Believe me, they are both fine young baseball players but they don't compare to Albert Pujols. And they never will.Comment

For a long period of time during the season, yes it was just Pujols.

Pujols doesn't pitch and play every position for the Cards.
Moving on...
Rollins is a consistent batter to get on base? Rollins has never been consistent at getting on base. His OBP sucks for a leadoff hitter.
Why are you making this into a comparison competition? This is about who should win the NL MVP for this season. I know the homer in you can't help it, but stick to the subject of the thread, guy.Last edited by P2K; 10-18-2008, 04:36 AM.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
Isnt a comparison of the candidates what NL MVP discussion is?Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
No, dude is comparing their entire careers and who is the better player overall.
The thread is about who is the NL MVP. Rollins won it last year. I think he deserved it, but I know he is nowhere near the best player in the NL. Howard won it the year before. I know he isn't a better player than Pujols. Justin Mourneau won the AL MVP, but he's not a better player than Alex Rodriguez.
The award is for who had the most valuable season for THIS SEASON. This guy from St. Louis is talking about entire careers and past accomplishments and the future and being a homer. That's why I said to stick to the subject.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
Albert Pujols. Hands down. Don't even mention Howard in the same breath as Pujols. Sure you can have huge Septembers. Ryan Howard and Chase Utely are both 1 year older than Pujols.
Pujols- 2 NL championships. 1 WS title. 1 Batting Title. Has never batted under .323 for a season. 1 MVP (Should be at least 3 maybe 4 because of Bonds)
Utely + Howard - 2 HR titles. 0 NL championships. 0 batting titles. 1 MVP. 0 WS
Pujols has outshined them in every category and he's younger! He's produced twice the amount of 2 young stars in the same amount of time.Comment

Player comparison from this year, cool. But not from years past and the future.Comment

Re: NL MVP Discussion
I know change my opinion on the MVP. First, I said Pujols 100%, but know, it's an even race and I'll tell you all why:
Pujols' cards did not make the playoffs, the phils did. Rollins and Utley wrecked the brewers and sadly, the dodgers (). Howard is out of the race because of his terrible nlds and nlcs. Here are my predictions up-to-date.
If Phils Win W.S. - Utley wins MVP if he has a .500 avg and 3 hr's
If Phils Win W.S. - Rollins wins MVP if he has a .500 avg 3 hr's and 10 rbi's
If Phils LOSE W.S. - Pujols wins MVPGT - Rocky Roeder
