one of the things i hate about knuckle ball pitchers...

They are soooo good at messing up my timing... I hate their 50 MPH knuckler, then when I'm expecting it, they throw a heater right pass me.

Does the rookie/allstar/veteran setting effect the pitch speed or just your ability to hit the ball without a perfect swing? It sounds like you are saying that with rookie, I can still make contact if I swing too late where on veteran, I would miss it. Is this true?

People are complaining about pitch speeds but in real life Randy Johnson strikes out 10 batters a game so if you strike out 10 times to him, that's normal. Another complaint is how curveballs fool you, but in real life you always see people look horrible by a wicked curve. There is a very good saying that says "you can get to the majors fast by hitting the fastball, but if you can't hit the breaking ball you'll be leaving it just as quickly"

I guess it really depends on how well you play the game. I can't hit ANYTHING on Veteran OR All Star, and I've tried. I have to use Rookie, because it's the only thing I can hit with. The Problem is the difference between Rookie and Veteran. On Veteran, your batting cursors go down to that of a Pitcher's on Rookie. Yet on Rookie, it's way too easy to hit, I used to hit like 10 Bombs a game and that was way too unrealistic. I discovered what to do to fix this, though. Take away the Strike Zone for your batters. I did that and I've been hitting everything alot less. I feel like I've been earning my runs, too. It's made the game alot more fun and definitely alot more realistic for me. I'm now lucky to hit one homer a game. I never expected it to make such a difference when I took away the strike zone, but it did, and it made just the right ammount of difference.

I actually have trouble pitching. The most k's I've made in a game is 8 with Roy Halladay. I usually can't break 5 a game. It makes me mad sometimes, because batters I pitch against sometimes hit balls that I KNOW they couldn't hit in real life, and even if they don't get hit for a base or home run, it upsets me because it's usually right before I was about to get the k!! ><!!!!

But yeah, since I've taken away the strike zone, games have been more realistic. Before I did it, I was hitting HRs with KENNY LOFTON! Now, I've only hit one HR so far with my LEft Feilder, Hideki Matsui...who hasn't hit many this year anyways, so it's cool

Also, this is my first post here. I came across the board when I was searching for a guide for pitching for ASB2004. Hope you guys don't mind. I like the board, and I LOVE the game. Hope to talk some Ball with you guys later.

Stoud- so it sounds like you are using the classic cursor, right? I'm using the easy batting (ie. no cursor) and I can swing too late at a pitch and still put it in play. I'm wondering if this is because I'm on rookie. I'd rather miss the pitch than have it put in play since it doesn't feel right and seems unrealistic. I've even looked at the replay and I can see the ball go past me and disappear. Then, out of nowhere, I see the ball go off the bat into the outfield.

Lets remember this.....not everyone can make the big leagues...if you're trying yyour heart out, and still can't get above rookie....maybe ASB is just too tough for you, I think there are still some old triple play games out there to be bought..

Only thing I could reccomend is a LOT of practice...

Practice in CB2k3 really helped my 3pt shooting.

If practice doesn't help...I agree with TP... I still have a PS TP 99 copy..interested?
