Re: The Truth About HH And Other Games - 3DO Check This Out

Rodster, I hear ya. Don't know what the sales figures are and I hope 3DO is seeing how many people have "switched" and traded in their games. These trades-ins don't go against sales, so they don't feel the effect. I'm just afraid that if they don't offer something over the top next year the people who bought it and were disappointed won't buy it next year unless they see something that really is different.

I want 3DO to succeed. I want all these companies go succeed as it makes it better for all of us. I was just really disappointed with what 3DO produced after telling us they had been working on the game for a year.

Could one of you guys post the absolute best sliders for High Heat. I have ASB, WSB and High Heat. I really enjoyed ASB but it is easy to beat now even though I am still having a lot of fun simming seasons and using the incredible franchise mode. WSB plays a great game of baseball and it too has an incredible franchise mode. I will keep both ASB and WSB just for simming seasons and being the General Manager. I tried to get into High Heat. I played it on the PS ONe and I loved it but I just not have been able to get into my X-box version.

          Jim - Check this out:

GameSpot is the world's largest source for PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS Vita, Wii PC, 3DS, PSP, DS, video game news, reviews, previews, trailers, walkthroughs, and more.

It sounds like 3DO did pretty well on HH2004. Hopefully this bodes well for future HH games.

I'm real skeptical of what Trip Hawkins says. He repeatedly said how they had not stopped working on the HH game when they released LAST years version. That they had been working on it for the entire year prior to release. I just find that statement very hard to believe, so I'm skeptical of anything he says.

they certainly didn't work on the PC game. They simply ported the console and ticked off a large number of their PC base.

I'm no programmer, but in a year they couldn't lay down a new crowd sound so that it didn't cut out? How difficult would that have been in the year he says they worked on the game.

His "good news" came on the backs of the gamers. Sure he can tout all the good things for 3DO, but, im my opinion, he has got to do something much, much better for the High Heat loyalist next year. This is a drab, drab looking game that needs a major overhaul and next year will tell the tale if he really intneds to put his money where his mouth is.

Deadhorse the cool thing about HH is that the game isn't a huge sliderfest like WSB which I had last year. The only 2 sliders I adjust is "Foul Balls" increase them x 2 and I MAX OUT all pitching speeds. You can increase CPU baserunning speeds for more steals but the higher up you go in difficulty the CPU gets more cunning so CPU base stealing shouldn't be a problem.

I play the game at the Rookie level and I find the game realistic and challenging enough even for me. I guess that must mean I sucK

"I'm going to EB as soon as I get a chance to exchange ASB for HH. The EB guys are going to laugh at me for trading in so many baseball games."

Don't worry about it. I bought HH. Then I bought MVP. Then traded in MVP for Dirt to Daytona. Then sold HH back for WSB. Last but not least I took WSB back and got HH. I did take the games back within the 7 day period so I didn't waste money. I think the gamestop guys thought I was losing it, but I ended up with HH. Didn't need to go through all the trouble. I did get D2D which is a great game though

HH is the only was to go. Real baseball for REAL baseball fans.

I have been playing WSB since it's been out. I had HH and played HH2003 to death on ps2 last year(one of the best sports games ever) but coudln't really get into it this year. So after a month of WSB, it is a great overall game in terms of graphics gameplay and the whole package.

But.......even though WSB has very good gameplay, it still does not compete in the gameplay department as High Heat, which is why I am rebuying HH2004. Like the others in this post have said, if you JUST want Baseball REalism without the other things, High Heat is still the wya to go. Its not a perfect game (imo they took a step back from HH2003), but for Strictly realism, it's the best out of the bunch.

You can make an analogy that HH Gameplay is like MJ in his prime, while WSB gameplay is like MJ now. Both still great players, but there is a gap between both levels.

So the circle is complete, I have gone back to HH because of the realism.
