I really wanted Tex to come to Boston, but now I hate him like I hate A-Rod. He'll probably get booed like crazy at Fenway.

      LOL!!!

No, the AI in the Commissioner's office is broken. It's pretty ridiculous that one team has the 4 highest paid players in the game. I'm hoping this offseason will finally convince the gutless owners of the non-NY,LA, Boston markets to band together and install a salary cap and/or better revenue sharing.

Five players (A-Rod, Jeter, Texiera, Sabathia and Burnette) make more than 70% (21/30) of the league's teams total 2008 payroll....I guess if you can't beat 'em, buy 'em.

Add in Rivera and it's higher than 87% of the teams (26/30).

It will be extremely sweet if they don't buy a world series...I mean win one.

Well, I'm going to do some "special editing" of the Yankees in The Show this year. No way this stands.

I just want to see the Yankees fall flat on their face, so the commish can keep letting it happen and we can laugh at New York, showing them that they can't even buy a championship (or playoff berth haha).

But the Yankees aren't just signing players out of the air. Mussina, Pettitte, Giambi, Abreu, Pudge, Pavano, and others are gone. $88 million came off the books, and even with the Tex signing, the Yankees payroll is lower than last years, as of now. When you add in Pettitte probably getting $10m, they will be right at where they were last year.

Nobody seems to realize this. The Yanks aren't going from a $205 million dollar payroll to $275 million dollar payroll. They are going from a $205 million dollar payroll to a $200-$210 million dollar payroll.

So do the Sox go after Dunn?

Which is still more than twice as much as 70% of the other teams in the league. I mean whether it's $200M, $250M or $300M, it's still completely rediculous.

As long as teams like the D-Rays, Marlins, Brewers and others continue to strive with youth and low payrolls, MLB will never change it's ways.

Oh I see now. They only spend 2x-3x more than 75% of the league as opposed to the 5x I thought it was. Glad you cleared that up.

I understand that, but people are acting like this is some outrageous unforeseen event. The Yankees lost nearly $90 million dollars in payroll. Did people really think they wouldn't add that money right back on?
