    Re: Giants!!!

Actually, I really like Fonzie in the 2 hole, just cuz he's so good at going to the right side. with Durham opening up the hole (being held on) that could lead to alot of 1st and 3rd situations for the middle of the order.
Funny thing is, Nen being out for the year doesn't bother me at all. He's been a great Giant, but towards the end of last year he was making me nervous.

nen usually got the job done, but he certainly made things interesting by allowing baserunners. with that said, i just hope for the best for nen as rotator cuff tendor surgery is serious business. we may have seen the last of nen as we knew him.

unfortunately, you may be right. nen was a true gamer, is a true gamer.
closers just don't seem to last long nowadays, the lee smith, orosco, fingers, reardon, tekulve days are all but gone,
closers seem to have 5 good years, tops. Most only have 2 and some are only good that 1 year. the giants have really been lucky to have two of the best ever nen & beck.

Well, Nathan gave up his first run. We knew it had to happen sooner or later. Congrats to him for making it so long without and earnie.

They really had to manufacture that run, too... Their speed is what got it.

Beck didn't last long as a dominant reliver for the giants.Anyone would've been batter than Bedrosian. After his first contact ran out he started to suck. After he signed a big money renewal contract (at that time) with the giants he began to suck and would make you nervous watching him as he let runners single off him before giving up a homerun. Seemed like he either lost his stuff or he wasn't motivated and was traded to the cubs. He sure was great before signing his big contract. I always liked his chain-smoking chili-dog-eating gun'em down attitude but I grew tired of the blown saves after he'd signed that contract. He was like the original mad dog closer of our era that Rocker and now Gagne now exemplify.

i'm starting to question the amount of tinkering alou is doing with the lineup. yeah, cruz's bat has cooled off, but moving him down to the 7th spot is little too dramatic. what about letting the players work out of a slump?
