. Good thing it wasn't on his throwing arm, as he would probably have to be out longer than the 6 weeks.

i could see why u wouldnt want it on his throwing arm, but hes still gotta catch with his other arm and hes gotta b able to move his arm and stuff to get the glove in position to catch it. too bad for the guy though

You know the bad thing about it is,if he didn't try to catch that ball, they'd be bashing the man today for not going all out. Has a big Griffey Jr fan, this one is a little hard to take. I was over at the Reds message board and it's insane the number of Reds fans bashing the guy. How in the hell do you bash a guy who got hurt while attempting to save a couple of runs for your team? I just don't understand that at all. Now I'm waiting to see how his conditioning gets blamed for this one.

Yeah, this is nothing like the other injuries he's been getting. This is just one of those freaky things that happens when you try to over-extend yourself. I applaud the guy for trying to save the inning. Who knew that something like this could happen. It's not exactly in the back of your mind when you try to make a play. I can guarantee he'll be thinking about it next time though.

Re: Griffey down in severe pain

The Reds announced that Griffey will be out 6-10 weeks. They say it isn't as severe as Jeter's injury. If Junior would have surgery now, he'd miss the season. So they're going to rehab him and if he can't come back from that then they'll go ahead with the surgery and he'd miss the season anyway.

Do some research on the guy, he will NEVER think about getting hurt while playing the field. Anyone remember 1995. My favorite catch ever. I wish he would have atleast came down with this one like he did in 1995.

Unfortunately he's spending them on the DL. Anyways he is great in the outfield so no need to move him to the DH position. Just trade him to NY Yanks in exchange for Raul Mondesi.

It's not about age, its about being injury-prone. At least in the AL he could play everyday, most days in the field, the rest as a DH. (I don't like the DH rule, personally) In the NL, the only way to get rest is to take days off. But, I guess if you're going to be hurt, at least its the first week rather than the homestretch.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't his other injuries come from running on the basepaths. They were leg injuries if I'm not mistaken, so unless he can have a designated runner, going to the Al won't make a bit of difference. It was just bad luck with the way he came down, stuff like that happens. What are you gonna do?

                                Griffey is down yet again...

This is getting ridiculous. Now I know how Orlando Magic fans must feel.
