Not a chance. Saw him facing the Marlins. 5 ab's, 5 k's. Not the productivity most people look for.

On a side note, one thing I can say about him in his 10+ years in Atlanta was he barely ever got injured. As I said earlier, I think he started to get pull happy and try to hit homers (which is why he's almost falling over his back leg when he swings) and it stunted his growth as a hitter.

In any event, he's by far the best player from Curacao. The link posted above actually shows Andruw in fairly decent shape but he still needs to shed at least 20-25 lbs more.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

You don't think he hit rock bottom? If this isn't rock bottom I don't know what is. The Dodgers paid 21 million dollars to get rid of him. He's coming off a season in which he had more strikeouts than at-bats. If that isn't rock bottom I hate to see what rock bottom is.

I'd love to see a mathematical explanation for this one.

A simple mistake on my part. I meant more strikeouts than games played.

I knew you didn't intend it, hence the wink.

Jones's year was so bad not only was it more K's than games played, but more K's than Hits+BB's. Ouch!

If I'm a GM there's no way I sign Jones for anything more than a minor league deal. I'm sure it will happen, but there will be some idiotic GM out there who signs Jones to a guaranteed deal.

Yeah wow. I didn't realize it was more strikeouts than hits plus walks. I thought it was impossible to be that bad. Ouch! I pray that if the Braves sign him it's not for anything more than a minor league deal.

Of course there needs to be strings attached. I would get that dude on an intensive program to shed a ton of weight. I would rather him be the vaccum at CF with a good bat than an OK fielder who can hit for power but strikes out more than anything. I would say for the mariners to pick him up and use him as a DH until he can get back into his old form. Wakamatsu is a good hitting coach so he could work with him. I dont think hes wasted talent though. Just me but I always see more in players than is actually there. What are yall's thoughts?
That made my entire week, don't let fatty fool you guys. Dude isn't going to be close to an all star anymore, his best days are past him imho.

I don't think he'll ever play in the majors again but I'd like to see the Braves sign him for the minimum. I guess it's possible he might have something left.

The problem with giving Andruw a guaranteed major league contract is because their 40-man roster is currently full they would have to try to great someone through waivers to get them off the 40-man roster. With Andruw's situation there is no reason to risk losing someone to make room for Andruw when there is no guarantees with him.

Do you guys know that Andrew Jones was released from his winter ball cluba " Aguilas del Cibao"?. He only batted like 169.

"Aguilas del Cibao" is a winter ball club in the dominican republic. THis club is made up of almost majorleaguers. The league proved to be too much for him.

Yeah. He struckout 7 times in 13 at-bats against RHP.

That still wouldn't scare me away from a Minor League deal. What have you got to lose if you're an MLB team? Chump change...that's it. Its an extremely low risk signing.
