    HEY!

I gave you the "Post" disclaimer in the OP.

It may not be as bad as "slammin'" the Yanks...but I still do not understand why a guy still in baseball is letting this stuff out.

Wasn't Torre a "What you see here...what you say here.....LET IT STAY here!" kind of guy?
I'm pretty sure he laid that speech on the fellas when he took over.

Guess that only applies when your in N.Y.C., huh?

    ....and I like Torre!

From my understanding (based on all the disclaimers being thrown out by Verducci, Torre, and others in the know) is that Torre is just providing personal perspective on that time period. He apparently didn't even reveal anything about the team, just his perspective on dealing with the ownership, media, fans, etc.

Most of the controversial "A-fraud" (still love it) stuff comes from various other "team sources" not Torre. His involvement is for more of the personal touch on a period of time. It's really Verducci's book.

I dunno. I guess we won't really know much for sure until we read the book. I'm beginning to wonder if Verducci didn't help spin all this to help promote it...lol (only being half-serious). I wouldn't have thought twice about the book, now I just want to see what's what. Pretty shrewd.

Whatever is in the book, goes back to Torre, 3rd party statements included. His name is on the book.

Remember when Torre was all over David Wells for his book that included locker room material.

I agree, to an extent. There is a big difference between co-authoring a book with information provided from various sources and writing a book that personally reveals inside info.

I'm just saying it's funny how many people wanted to jump on this without knowing the facts and based on assumptions made by one of the more sensationalized "news souce" out there. (I'm not talking about Knight, I know he never personally claimed anything...just posted the info).

As I said, we'll know more when the book is released. I'm sure people who have strong opinions about Torre either way won't change them much anyhow.

                Re: Wow...Torre SLAMMIN' the Yankees

This is just another case of a completely overblown story by the media that is twisted and turned into a "Yankee bashing fiasco" And they are just having a "field day" with it. The Media just disgusts me sometimes.

Torre is the one who made the Yankees good - the Yankees are a bad team right now - why? Cause they dont have Joe Torre. If the Yankees were smart enough and relocated their team to New Jersey then they would not be getting bashed by Joe Torre in his book.
