    Cubs get Heilman

Aaron Heilman for Ronny Cedeno and Garrett Olsen...

Are you serious? This has to be a piece for a Peavy deal.

I fail to see them getting Peavy because it looks like they are trading away the only possible decent young talent that San Diego might want. No way the Padres want Heilman, he's old, and not a prospect like they are looking for. I don't really understand this move, unless the cubs hope he returns from his disasterous year last year.

This deal makes little sense for the Cubs.

The Padres liked Olson a lot apparently, so it looks like Peavy's staying put.

This is such a stupid deal for the Cubs. I didn't like Cedeno, but with trading DeRosa and Cedeno, you're killing your infield depth. They got Aaron Miles, but come on. Everybody needs a rest from time-to-time, and combine that with Aramis Ramirez's tendency to at least get mildly injured, and you're forced to call someone up.

                WTF.

Just when I think things are starting to look up. The Cubs management quickly and painfully bring me back down to Earth.

                Definitely no Peavy now.

Looks to me like he's trying to go in the wrong direction.

Felix Pie, Ronny Cedeno, and Scott Olsen

                    for

Aaron Heilman and a-baller Henry Williamson

He's on crack, it's the only logical conclusion.

It's gotten to to the point, for me at least, that I'm not even looking forward to this season...this is the first time in about 20 years that I've said that.

Why? The Cubs still have one of the best teams in the NL. Just imagine that rotation if Harden is healthy for a full season and Dempster repeats.

those are big ifs, and the first one is certainly unlikely.

Heilman's numbers in 06 and 07 were good, his K/BB ratio is good, as his opp. avg. and whip

my guess is that they may be counting on Simardzija to make a move into the rotation...

Its not only the occurences of this offseason, but a combination of that and the emotional investment it takes to root for this team...I get so wrapped up in their play that I live and die with them....I'm getting to old for that ****, time to take a step back.
