Hey thanks I was a Blues fan before a Cardinals fan. I didn't really latch on until 1998 as a wide eyed 8 year old. I'm not going to lie, Mark McGwire got me hooked on baseball and I know that there is many more people he has too.

Sounds like we could get along. Maybe we could gang up on the 'Stros fans or Mets fans. Deal?

Yep, 1998 did a lot for baseball. Ironically steroids saved the game to some degree. Sammy and McGwire. I remember watching the game when McGwire hit number 62. It was cool to see him and Sosa hugging, giving high fives, etc. And all the Cubs giving him five as he rounded the bases. I still remember how he missed first base and had to go back. That was awesome.

Of course this was blown WAY out of proportion by the media. They neglect to mention that he also said good things about playing in St. Louis. But people only remember things like this, which again isn't really that bad as people make it out to be. I guess the part where he says he is ready to "play the game the right way" somehow implies that St. Louis was doing something wrong. Again, it will be interesting to see how he is received.

Yeah but he also said the Cardinals made him what he is today. This is where he made a name for himself. I loved Miles when he played for the Redbirds. Not the greatest player, but he gave it his all every time they gave him a chance (including on the mound). I will take a good hustle guy over a lazy, talented guy any day of the week.

The Cardinals decided to go in a different direction, and Miles wanted to get playing time. He thought about taking a home town discount, but in the end decided to go to the Cubbies, where he will probably get much more playing time than he would in a Cards uniform. Can't blame a guy who wants to play.

I have nothing but respect for Mr. Miles, and if I am in the crowd the first time he plays at Busch this year, I will be the first to stand and applaud. Any one who doesn't, no matter what Miles said on his way out, isn't a true Cardinal fan.

Speaking of the Mets, I used to love the fact that the Cubs and Mets, and Cardinals and Mets played one another numerous times throughout the year. It doesn't happen anymore since we have interleague play. I wish baseball would eliminate interleague play. The Mets and Cardinals used to be one of the biggest rivalries in the National League. Now they only play one another 6 times all year.

They did. Interleague should be cut back. Rivalaries shouldn't have a home/away series. Just one and done, imo.
