True but his body NEVER changed. He was skinny as hell from start to finish. There was no peak and valleys in his numbers. This whole everybody is guilty stuff is going a little to far. Yes there where alot of players doing it but to just say everybody was is a joke.

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
Here are some I always suspected...
Jeff Bagwell
Brian Jordan
Rich Aurelia
Steve Finley
Luis Gonzalez
Henry Rodriguez
Jeromy Burnitz
I can go on and on... I was watching the MLB Network the other day (best channel on TV!) and they were giving their "classic games" marathon, which is awesome. I love watching games from the 90s and playing this game. I mean honestly IMO they were ALL juicing.
Brian Jordan - toss up
Rich Aurelia - yes
Steve Finley - hmmm tough, but NO
Luis Gonzalez - He seriously should get his money back
Henry Rodriguez - Henry who? He sucked to bad to care
Jeromy Burnitz - see above...but yes
hmmmm...shockingly NO...i think he is just a big boy....although I think he is a pro wresling fan.
ok here are some...not saying these guys do...just want to get your opinions. Out of this group I think 3 guys juiced
Jorge Posada
Terry Steinbach
Andruw Jones
Jim Thome
John Smoltz
Ruben Sierra
Al LeiterComment

Also, didn't Randy Johnson lose some life on his fastball a couple years ago and everyone was saying he's done?Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Steinbach - I don't even remember him
Andruw - probably
Thome - eh, I guess I'll go with probably
Smoltz - no, I doubt it
Sierra - probably
Leiter - I doubt it

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
That is why he was NOT injured those dominant years, and did not get injured until the steroid scandal broke.
One other reason is that I remember in 01 or 03 I cant remember, the Sox announcers were talking about how Pedro bulked up with something like 20 lbs of muscle. And the guy's neck was was as thick as a tree that year. That specifically stuck out to me.
As far as Big Papi, no way. He was never a muscle monster. Roids thin you out. I seen people take them, and not even work out, and it just leans you out so fast. He is just natually a big guy, but no giant arms or anything. In fact his arms are not that defined muscle wise. He just has a side-effect of bad knee and wrist the past 2 years, and the fact Manny went into his cry baby non-threat like he used to be, and then no Manny at all. He is not seeing good pitches anymore, and his health is in question. Plus Ortiz's most dominant years were AFTER the steroid story broke and there was heavy testing.
Sure he didnt hit with the Twins like he did with the Sox, but he also did not have the best right-handed hitter in baseball to protect him either on the Twins.
My roid sure fire user is Ivan Rodriguez. The guy was a stocky muscular little monster ... hit moonshots for being so small. The year after the steroid story broke and they had heavy "in the public testing" ... he looked like a little league player. Swear he lost 30 lbs of muscle. And his HR numbers plummeted. It was also the same year Bonds had a "knee injury" and couldnt play, and Giambi had some "super crazy unheard of stomach virus" that kept him out most of the year. Ironic.Last edited by EnigmaNemesis; 02-11-2009, 05:40 AM.Ⓥ Boston Red Sox | Miami DolphinsComment

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
Why is the "everybody is guilty" perspective going too far when Randy Johnson is mentioned? I don't think he is guilty, but it wouldn't surprise me if he was.
The truth is, nobody knows, everyone is suspect, the end. It might be silly to say 100% everyone is guilty, but it's equally as silly to decide that a player can't be because you like him.
That aside, there are only 2 players that I would be totally surprised if they got called out. Ripken and Gwynn...that's it. Sad but trueComment

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
Most of the guys were taking the low grade stuff that would help their body recover from fatigue and injuries. Thus pushing their bodies too hard.
Ken Griffy Jr was hurt to much to be taking something since he would have a played a ton more games.
As much as I like Jim Thome, I'd not be surprised.
I can't see Cal Ripken being on any of it.BeyondMediaOnline.comComment

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
What about Luis Gonzalez?
The guy went from hitting 20 or so HRS a year to hitting 57 in 2001 when roids where the most common.
Then once testing started he has hit 17, 24 ,15, 15, and 8???ND Season Ticket Holder since '72.Comment

Interesting. A-Rod's body hardly changed (at least in an unnatural way) and he has some of the most consistent numbers in the game.

Re: The official [Was/is he on Roids?] game thread
Frank Thomas probably maybe took something but not roids. Remember the guy testified in court about the steroid issue. Would he be dumb enough to commit perjury?

I dont believe Pujols is on roids though.
I dont believe for one second that he is 29 years old, however.
I'd bet my mortgage, that man is 2 years older then his listed age.Comment
