If Bedard could pitch up to his potential, and the Mariners bullpen can pitch good they might be able to surprise some teams in the AL West.

Bedard is due for a fajina strain and another 15-day DL stint. I'm sure he'll pitch well in the 7 starts he makes this season.

I asked this in another thread, but I guess this would help as well.

How does Franky Gutz look for you guys?

Also, it's awesome that Griffey is doing sweet for the M's...I wish he never left.

I barely got to watch any of tonight's game...literally got home and turned it on to see Morrow load the bases and Batista give up two singles. Based on the first game I was extremely impressed with Gutz's patience and where with all at the plate (and obviously he's a stud in the field). He didn't swing at any bad pitches and drove the hittable pitches. I think the M's are extremely happy with him so far based on ST and the early season.

In regards to Griffey, I can't believe how different he is. He's changed a ton since he was last in Seattle. I loved Junior's ability, but disliked his attitude during the 90's. He is almost another coach and counselor in the dugout for the M's now.

It was bound to happen with age for Griffey, I suppose. Older age makes you less of a jackass.

As for Gutz, that is very good. If he is seeing the ball and playing with patience at the plate, he is a boarderline all-star.

Yeah, he was the key to the entire 3-way deal and the M's viewed him as the most desirable player in the entire league that they could acquire with the parts they had. If Cleveland wouldn't have let go of him Seattle wanted nothing to do with the Mets. I hope Gutz keeps hitting like he did the 2nd half of last season...would be nice to see him turn a corner.

I hope Valbuena works out for Cleveland. You guys, along with the Orioles, have made a nice haul off our prospects over the past few years (f'n Bavasi...IDIOT!!!). There were a lot of people anxious to see Valbuena replace Lopez in '09 or '10. Let's hope this is a trade that works out for both teams (the Indians are easily my fav AL Central team...historically and even recently, they remind me a lot of the M's).

I think it is a combination of age, all of the injuries, and all of the losing seasons in Cincinnati that has humbled Junior. If not for all of the injuries Griffey could easily be knocking on the door of the Home Run record if not already passing it. I hope being back in Seattle we get to see one more great year from The Kid.

Gutz has been fantastic the past two games. I'm really looking forward to seeing his continued development at the plate with his discipline, patience, and contact.

That said, I am already imagining what our defensive outfield will look like in a week or two...Gutz, Endy Chavez, and Ichiro. That's scary good.

It was either USSM or LL, but did you see their statistical analysis that those three in the outfield are so good defensively that they essentially have the same scoring affect on the opponent as Safeco Field? So basically, when on the road, that outfield will save as many runs as if they were playing at Safeco? Amazing.

Done Deal. Griffey returning for 2010

Personally, while I loved the move last summer for one last swan song in a Mariners uniform, I don't like the move this year. We're giving up a bench spot to a part-time DH who can't play the field and can't hit anywhere close to where he used to. It'll help with him being in the clubhouse again I'm sure, but I'd rather see us develop some players. I just don't see us contending like we did last year, but stranger things have happened.

That said, I still love seeing my favorite baseball player of all-time in a Mariners uni.
