    Re: Timed Hitting

sounds like the average person wouldn't have too much fun. Coming up to the plate trying to get the bat with the cursor i also had problems with. It's like to get the pirched ball and circle (cursor) to come together with 9 different pitches made it extremely hard for me (imagine if they would have included all of the other different types of fast balls and breaking pitches). That's even after changing countless number of settings, etc.. I recently found out/discovered Timed Hitting and im finally able to have hits realistically. I was using the Yankees and I was averaging about 3 hits per game! It was not to much fun. The pitching was great; you paint the corners and use that specific pitcher's best pitches in the right situation and you were straight. The batting though was always a problem...until now and my discovery of Timed Hitting.

Well, I decided to make the jump from timed hitting to cursor hitting...

...and it was _much_ more realistic...at least for me it was.

I'm not getting 15+ hits a game anymore, I'm getting around 7-10 with small cursor hitting. And I'm not hitting 3+ bombs anymore per game..more like around 1 or 2, if I'm lucky.

All in all, cursor hitting is _much_ more realistic, IMO.

Well im using the All Star sliders that came with the game. I play with the Yankees and im averaging 10-12 hits. I mean, there are games that i still manage to lose because it's not 10-12 runs just hits so it's not really unrealistic. Again, Im playing with the Yanks and and if you know they're lineup currently they have 5 all stars and another one in Matsui who could very well be an all star this year with the numbers he's posting (he's very very similar to the one in real life). So for me to average but not get everytime 10-12 hits with this team seems about right. That's not even counting the pen (# 42 Rivera and my starters who 1-4 can dominate a game. I am going to experiment with Xcell's sliders though.

Is there any correlation between the coaches sliders and the way I hit playing with Timed Hitting? I wonder if I turned discepline and contact all the way down if I'd get fewer hits. Or do the sliders only affect simmulated games?

I think setting the sliders is kinda a lost cause. You always adapt to the games... say i'm getting my *** handed to me on rookie, well after 10-12 games, I'll get the hang and start knocking THEM around... then up to pro, same thing, on to all-star... once I hit the highest level THEN I'll worry about sliders... currently, I'm playing on All-Star, timed hitting, fast pitching, and for a bit I bumped it up to very fast, but they were knocking around my pitchers and I wasn't hitting crap, so I bumped it back down for a couple games and plan on going back to very fast again tonight.. you'll have slugfests, not every match is a pitchers' duel, look at the Yankee/Twinkies game yesterday. hell, Sox/Jays game as well... they happen, I think some people get 14 hits in a game and immediately think sliders need adjusted... just go with it, when you're 10-0 and averaging 15-20 hits a game THEN look at the level, THEN look at sliders. As long as you continue to adapt to a game, slider setting will endlessly change and need altered.
