Ausmus with the *gasp* single with a RISP, but I'm not thrilled at all.

This should be a 15-5 game.

Ha, listen to Chris Young's fail call at 0:12 in the video titled "Molina's two-run dobule" (yes, double is mispelled):

I don't know about Girardi, but in my opinion this is poor managerially. You don't just leave a pitcher in to "finish the inning," even if it means he qualifies for an official start this way. Eight earned runs is no sneeze, the Sox absolutely crushed the ball.

I'll tell you what though, he's certainly got balls to stand up against the metropolitan fans and media, and I'll give him that.

Beckett isn't doing much better, but he is well rested and needs to work through a long start IMO. He doesn't look tired, just looks like he's overthrowing and needs to settle. This will be a good interlude into his next start when it's not against the enemy. I don't think he should be going much more than this first batter walk though.

EDIT: Ah ha, Damon homers, game tied. Finally his leash has yanked.

NOTE: I'm a Red Sox fan.

Anyone want to win this game? That's like 5 lead changes.

This battle is just amazing. That intentional walk was the dumbest move in the history of this game, and I called it out along with the PBP announcer. In a game with this many runs, putting the lead runner on base (with less than two outs) is just idiotic to put it nicely.

I think the pitcher should have gone into the dugout to take Girardi out, not the other way around.

That was pretty stupid. It would have made sense with a groundball pitcher on the mound since Lowell will lead the league in GIDP when all is said and done. High fastballs usually don't produce double play balls though.

Yeah, but even still if they accidentally walk him even attempting to do that (a hitter would probably do their best to look for any pitch that's not low that they would probably take enough that end up there, especially those under the zone) now you have the bases loaded. It's just not worth the risk. The ending result shows exactly that.

But Cano has just made it close again.

Once again, it's appropriate to throw out the notion that the "hidden comeback code" is still present this season, and that hopefully the patch coming out Monday will address this.

Albaldejo has been a ground ball pitcher so far this year. He missed badly with that fastball.

Too small a sample size to go on. He wasn't throwing sinkers on the mound (or breaking balls) so I don't see how Girardi could expect a groundball in that situation.

That looked like an atrocious call on the Ellsbury steal.

Okay, so what haven't we seen in this game? So far we've seen:

                                - Home runs
                                -> Multi-homer game (Cano)
                                - Hit by pitches
                                - Missed calls
                                - Three comebacks
                                - Catcher's interference
                                - Intentional walks
                                - Five walks issued to a single player (Teixeira)
                                - Poor managerial and baserunning decisions
                                - Passed ball
                                - Day turn to night
                                - Crucial error
                                - Countless number of hits wearing out the Green Monster
                                - Twelve total pitchers, 385 total pitches
                                - Rally killers
                                - Broken bat
                                - Two players with 5+ RBI games (three with 4+)
                                - Play at the plate
                                - Grand slam
                                - Confirmation from Joe Buck that we've seen just about everything in this game

All we haven't seen are an ejection or balk... and a pitching appearance from Nick Swisher.

Looks like fans are getting their money's worth.
