Re: From Superstar to where the hell have you gone!!!!
Which is why I don't like when, say, a player hits a home run to lead off an inning after being stranded on deck due to a double play then the announcer goes, "If he beat out the DP attempt it would have been a two-run homer." Wrong. There is no chance in hell the circumstances would have set up the exact same pitch and state of mind and physicality for both the pitcher and hitter, not to mention he would be throwing from the stretch instead of the windup.
Same situation here. We just can never know for sure, that's why we always assume no runs would have been created because we can't penalize him for his defense's faults at not getting him out of the inning when he should have.
Either way, this is a guy that I predicted would dominate in 2007, and he certainly did fall off in a very drastic way.
I guess David Ortiz now belongs in this thread too, going from Big Papi to Big Sloppy.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: From Superstar to where the hell have you gone!!!!
I think he wants to, but no one signed him after New York (Atlanta should have kept him over LaRoche). Check that, I think Atlanta actually did pick him up again, but not for very long.
Then I think he started playing with the Mexican League, but no one was signing him so he may have now announced retirement.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: From Superstar to where the hell have you gone!!!!
im kinda surprised nomar was mentioned so much. he was a top 5 SS for many years with A Roidand Jeter
only infront of him. he went to the cubs and was injured (see mulder and victor zambrano and freddy garcia) they all were just given that as an excuse. then nomar came back and still went 280 and 20 homers for the dodgers after those injuries and hes still playing in oakland. yes nomar isnt the 300 30 100 guy (also stole 20-30 bases too) he was but hes old and well players regress as they age. i still think if he could have a somewhat healthy season one more time he would go 280 20 80 and then every1 would say he still can play it was just inuries. just my opinion guys. not trying to prove any1 wrong or talk smack just my personal thoughts.
He's Back!!!!!!

Re: From Superstar to where the hell have you gone!!!!
I think I want to revive this thread as the "potential" thread is up there now, but I have another player in mind.
What the hell happened to Shawn Green?
The guy just seriously flew off the map after 2007 where he still had a .291 batting average to finish off the season. He was only 35 years old.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: From Superstar to where the hell have you gone!!!!
Bobby Crosby - seriously this guy was hyped as a future AS at one point, I honestly have no idea where he is now.
Khalil Greene - same as above.
Hank Blalock - the guy was a 2x All star, and now is basically already a has been and not even 30 yet. What happened?
Jeff Francouer- I know he's in NY, but he was supposed to be the Braves' future at one point, fell off the map quickly
Mark Mulder - Injuries I guess? But he fell off quickly.
Reup the Travis Hafner mention from earlier in the thread - can you say steroids? That's what I think happened to him.
Rickie Weeks - never really lived up to the hype, I remember for sure Buster Olney talking him up as a future stud a few years back.Comment
