Re: A note to Cub fans...

In reply to the first post in this thread, this was a nice 4 game sweep over the Brewers, the Cubs first 4 game sweep on the road since 1991. Maybe the Cubs will start to play the Brewers better now. Great game today both teams played hard but I am glad we pulled out the win in the 17th. The Brewers made some impressive defensive plays in the extra innings to keep the game tied.

I was at the game Monday and Miller Park was full of Cubs fans. I would say we outnumbered the Brewers fans at that game I think the other 3 games were no different. Should change the name of Miller Park to Wrigley Field North

Sweep. The Cubs finally solved the Hex the Brewers have over them.

Baker bashers, wait and see what you think of Alou after 10 years, it's early and they are winning, of course you think he is managing a good game. I like Alou but he has his faults just as Baker does.

okay, but I have seen Alou do things in a month that Baker didn't do in a decade.
also, Jim Tracy was Alou's bench coach in Montreal and he said that he never once saw the Expos lose a game because of a move that Alou made.
I saw the Giants lose at least, very least 10 games a year purely because of moves Baker made.
I'm not trying to hate, really, I loved Dusty for the first few years, but most of us out here were more than ready for him to go, and that was before game 6 .

I'd rather see my coach trying to do something to motivate the team or get things going like Baker does then see him do nothing at all like Baylor and the others did for the last several years. Baker may not be the best manager in the majors, but I do think he gets the most with what he's got, and thats good when you're managing the Cubs. My only gripe so far is the pitch counts i've seen lately for Wood.

1.because pitcher's arms aren't conditioned like they used to be
                            2. today's pitcher's get paid way too much to risk injury
                            3. I'll tell ya who cares about pitch counts, any pitcher who's ever had arm surgery.

Look at the track record of guys who pitched for the Giants under Dusty Baker. I'm not sure there is another team who has had more pitching careers cut short. Luckily, the front office was smart enough(most of the time) to move the guys out of SF before they totally crumbled.

Who says pitchers arms are not conditioned like they used to be? Given players in general are better conditon it only makes sense that their arms would be to.

Plenty of Pitchers got hurt in the past, you just don't remember them because they got hurt and disappeared.

The only thing certain about pitch counts is that if a pitcher gets hurt everyone will blame the manager and high pitch counts. Their is no way to have a "test Kerry Wood" that only throws 100 pitches a game and the "real Kerry Wood", this makes it real easy for sportswriters and armchair guys like us to blame the manager and pitch counts because we can't be proven wrong.
