    Trade question for WSB players...

Well due to my injuries, my management keeps suggesting I trade for Brian Giles (I'm using the Pirates, only my team is drafted, not initial roster), no problem for me, seeing as he's one of my favorites. HOWEVER, when I go to offer for him off the Tigers (yeah, you heard me right) they keep saying, "We don't care what you offer, we're not trading Brian Giles!" Have any of you ever managed to pry a player of this importance off of a team before? If so, what did you wind up doing to get him? I'm beginning to think that statement really means what it says and i'm not getting him period!

Yeah, he was another one I pursued... It's not like I offered crap for players either... I had offered the tigers like Matsui, Trot Nixon and a good reliever for Giles.... no go. Could've been a better offer, but my only better OF (Jermaine Dye) is on DL...

I offered the one team Pedro straight-up for Zito, no dice! Same thing trying to get Prior... no dice! I'm like, "Dayum!"

I like it this way... it forces you to "make-due" in your first season, cut some high-priced deadweight, and see what you can buy in the off-season or call up... It just got frustrating because I don't mind finding ONE guy you basically can't touch, but so far I've ran into about 7-8 and prolly would be more if I offered more stuff out.

I can't believe you didn't draft Giles as your first player in your franchise. I'm using the Cubs in my WSB franchise, and whenever I go against the Pirates, I fear Giles. He always comes up with big hits against me. Currently, he has a good chance of winning the triple crown in my WSB franchise. Right now, I wish I could do a one-on-one trade for Giles with Sosa.

See, that's MY fault... I decided to anchor my pitching staff with Pedro, and I just couldn't use him right, people where knocking around like he's pitching underhand. So by the time I got to the 2nd round, Giles was already gone. Well Giles in Detroit on my franchise has Detroit running away with the division so far, so I can see why they're not real anxious to deal him.

If you're not too far into your franchise, start it over, and draft Giles first. Trust me, you won't regret it.
