There was also the case of Phil Niekro (I think it was him) where the umps went out to check him and video shows him reaching in his pocket and pulling out a nail file. He then drops it on the ground. The umps see it, but he acts like he has no clue what it was. Pitchers have used all kinds of stuff to get extra movement on their ball.Comment

There was also the case of Phil Niekro (I think it was him) where the umps went out to check him and video shows him reaching in his pocket and pulling out a nail file. He then drops it on the ground. The umps see it, but he acts like he has no clue what it was. Pitchers have used all kinds of stuff to get extra movement on their ball.Comment

I remember that, but I believe it was actually Joe Niekro who tossed the emory board, I'm sure Phil did his share also.Comment
