Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz on "The List"

    http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=4366335

Manny Ramirez and David Ortiz tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs in 2003, lawyers with knowledge of the results told The New York Times.

The two were key members of the Boston Red Sox World Series teams in 2004 and 2007.

I don't see anything wrong with this. The fact is, this was not against the rules in 2003. it may be bad for their health, and could've helped some guys break records, but I don't think they should be erased from history becuase they did something that wasn't against the rules at the time.

Something that has been touched on very little is the fact that most of these positive tests (not just with "The List", but tests in general) are coming back on hispanic players.

While I understand that there is a high percentage of hispanic players in baseball – especially at the lower levels – it still seems that the numbers are skewed.

I wonder why MLB even named the players tested in the "survey" test done in '03? Most anonymous testing is just that – anonymous – in that the subjects are given numbers, not names. Why were names ever attached to the results to begin with?
Overall satisfaction also makes the decline!!!!!!!!!!!!

I said it a while ago David Ortiz was a jucier he was nothing in Minn, and goes to Boston and was a superstar. seems more and more like the guys that are always talking about it seem to be the ones that are found users.

It sucks to see, but I can safely say a lot of people expected it.

Ortiz was the most obvious juicer of all-time outside of Bonds.

Blah, nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to Ped's in baseball. I could find out that Rafael Belliard was juicing and I wouldn't be shocked anymore.

I'd say Bonds and Sosa are tied for that distinction.

At age 29, Sosa went from a career high of 40 homeruns to hitting 66, 63, 50, 64, and 49 (the last one led the NL) in 5 consecutive years.

Not a big surprise. I just wish they would just release the 100 names and get it over with. Let's throw all of them under the bus and get this over with.

Not only that, but they don't always get the best of advice from their offseason trainers as to what they can/can't take. Throw that in with the fact that supplement regulations in the DR, et al are a joke, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Not saying I believe that Manny, Ortiz, Sosa, etc. didn't know what they were taking, I am merely wondering aloud.

I unfortunately am kind of surprised, and also disappointed at the same time. At least for me they're the most surprising names since... well, normally I'm not very surprised about this anymore. I wonder if any other Boston players from that team are on the list as well.
