I think he might be referring to Juan Gonzalez. Seems he had some domestic violence problems in the past, if I remember correctly.

Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?
No, I think he got the wife beating allegation with Sosa somehow confused with the homerun hitting Juan Gonzalez. He didn't mention Gonzalez I was just throwing that in because I've never heard of Sosa being involved in domestic violenct before.Comment

Heh, now, I'm a Cubs fan, and although I think that Sosa using cork would be stupid, he is already strong enough to blast them out without it. Givin his situation, just coming back off of injury, not hitting well....I CAN UNDERSTAND why he might. I don't condone it. I think this is a big blow to the game if it is proven true. (Would just love to see the reaction of CHICAGO is they say, it wasn't cork in the end...some umpires might wake up with horse heads in their beds.....) I think that everybody no matter how good, at times struggles, and it's a hard time to say no to something like this. But, we shall see how it turns out.

Exactly, this has been a tough season for him and that would make the most sense. But what a blow to baseball. Damn, I can already hear the typing of columnist for the Chicago newspapers right now.
<hr /></blockquote><font class="post">
I can't believe any baseball fan would defend him now
Sammy is a selfish player and should be BANNED, BLACK LISTED, KICKED OUT OF BASEBALL FOREVERComment

Your damned right, I only consider McGuire and Bonds HR kings now.

and who says they haven't used corked bats?
and don't just say they are above that. Because until tonight, as far as anyone was concerned, Sosa was too.

BEcause in America you're innocent 'till proven guilty, we saw cork in Sosa's bat, it's not fair to drag Bonds and McGuire into this.Comment

Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?
He says that he regularly uses a corked bat for batting practice to put on a show for the fans, and that he grabbed the wrong one. To a point, I almost have to believe him because to use a corked bat now days is just stupid. With the amount of broken bats now it doesn't seem like anyone would want to use a corked bat. Although I still find it very interesting, because you would think that he would have it clearly labeled.
And about the illegal hockey sticks, they don't give you as much of an advantage as you may think. Corked bats really make the ball go a lot farther. The illegal hockey sticks really don't do much. I know, either way it's still cheating, but it isn't the same as a corked bat.
