Anybody, ANYBODY! who's ever played baseball know's one thing,
Hitters don't get their bats mixed up!!!
    Please! give me a break!
Hitters are married to their bats! You cant tell you're wife, "Oh, sorry, I got you mixed up, I thought it was you" "Well, sometimes I play with the other ones, but only for practice and to impress people."

    <hr /></blockquote><font class="post">

This is not true of all players, some guys are like this, others are constantly changing bats to find one that feels right or has some hits in it. Just an article in TSN about this, Carlos Pena is always trying different bats. Edgar martinez uses different weighted bat in different situations, but hey don't let facts get in the way of your dislike of Sosa. The little bit I played in High School and the whole lot I played for recreation I always changed bats, cause at different times they felt different.

Craig Nettles did it and people just recall that he was a good player an excellent fielder his career is not marred by it.

the thing is Nettles was not a showboat, Sosa wrote the book on showboat, his excuse confirms that.

He shouldn't even be showing off in batting practice. Just be yourself, man. Don't show off what you really can't do, 'cause then y ou are just a big disappointment in the game when you are 0-4 with 3 K's.

And one other thing, Sosa may have power, and he may not. However, people believe that Sosa, jsut because he hits more homeruns, is a better homerun hitter than Barry Bonds. Bonds is a better hitter AND homerun hitter. I tell ya, if Bonds and Sosa had the same amount of at bats AND wre pitched to equally (even times that Bonds does get pitched to, he's still getting pitches that are trying to go off the plate away), then Bonds would have like... 30 more homers than Sosa, and a much... MUCH better average than Sosa. Remember that Bonds got 198 walks last year, and like... 64 were intentionaly or something. That's just unfair as Sosa gets pitched to.

That's just what I think though.

I couldn't agree more, and don't forget, yesterday they Intentionally walked a hitter TO pitch to Sosa

I've never been a fan of Sosa and I probably never will. But from what I read about the physics involved in hitting a baseball with a corked bat compared to a regular bat, if his bats before this were corked then it would have actually made it harder for him to hit HR's. Here is a line from some research that was done on this.

"If a bat has been corked it transfers less energy to the ball"

And if I'm reading this right: less energy = less distance.

Nonetheless, he shouldn't have had a corked bat anywhere near the stadium.

Once again you are confirming your obvious bias, Sosa plays hard, he has at times a flamboyant personality, what is wrong with that? We glorify players of the past that had different personalities but now all we can do is criticize. Sosa plays to the crowd a little bit, so what?

Nettles was also just a good player, some power bad average, so people like you didn't have the reason to hate him.

There are players I don't like but I have never spent my time in a forum crusading against a player like some of you guys do, it gets ridiculous the hatred some of you have for various players.

I'm sorry, I thought talking about players you dislike and players you like was part of talking sports.
I guess I should only talk about the players I like. From now on we should all only speak of the good things,
                              that will be REAL interesting.
