Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?

Actually I've heard reports that swinging a lighter bat does better for you than swinging a heavier one...

Guy I played softball with told me he added 35 feet to his swing by swinging a wiffle ball bat for 10 minutes before each game... I believe he called it "hyper-training your muscles"... it teaches you arms to swing faster with less weight and when you actually take a regulation bat, you muscles swing and don't realize instantly that it's heavier and you actually DO swing faster, maybe not as fast as with the wiffle ball bat, but still faster.

Re: Whats in the bat, Sammy?

Rick Telander of the CHICAGO SUNTIMES:

"I just took the wrong bat and went up there,'' he said in the interview room. "I apologize from the bottom of my heart.''

Sosa said he keeps a corked bat to use during batting practice be-cause "I like to put on a show for the fans. I like to make people happy and show off.''

I believe that. I believe gangsters keep shotguns in their trunks to shoot rabbits. I believe the Tooth Fairy is married to the Easter Bunny.

        I believe--I guarantee I be-lieve--that Sosa is a liar.

Is it worth noting that after returning from his recent toe injury, Sosa struck out eight times in two games, then dumped his blond bat and began using a black bat like this busted one?

Is it worth noting that he fanned five times Saturday against the Houston Astros, switched to a black bat late in the game, then singled home the winning run in the 16th inning?

That's interesting, you sure don't see guys using donuts like they used to. You should send an email to Sammy, he could use that!

My opinion is, he used to bat just this once to get out of his slump he's been in and gain the fans trust again. But I also believe he does it on diffrent occasions also. So maybe 10-15% of those homers, he used an illegal bat. Who knows, you would have to sort thru each of his games to find that out, and I'm sure someone at the MLB offices is doing that.

I agree, that makes a lot of sense. Sammy's ego is legendary and he was not pleased when some people pointed out the Cubs were doing fine when he was on the DL.

Then the Houston series and he was obviously feeling the heat. Even the "game winning hit" would have been a routine grounder if the infield wasn't in.

I was watching the game last night and when he came up to the plate with men on 2nd and 3rd he looked like a caged tiger, I have never seen him look so intense.

So what you say makes a lot of sense, unfortunately Sammy's credibility just went out the window so we will never know for sure how many of his HRs are tainted. Which means just about all of them are I guess

What in the hell does Barry Bonds have to do with "Corkin" Sammy Sosa? We're talking about Sosa's bat,not Bonds elbow protector.

Well, there's Bonds' steroid use, too. No one's HEAD grows with age....unless they're pumpin steroids. You don't get a forehead and jaw structure like that from just puttin on a few pounds.

Same goes for a lot of today's power hitters.
