Dav, a corked bat allows for quicker bat speed and hence farther ball flight.

"You should of saw the umps, they did'nt wanna blantantly say it was corked or whatever so they are holding it int he umps locker room till it will be eexamined.
But the look on their faces said it all. "

The look on the umpires face when they find out Sosa's bat is corked........Priceless.

Heh, now, I'm a Cubs fan, and although I think that Sosa using cork would be stupid, he is already strong enough to blast them out without it. Givin his situation, just coming back off of injury, not hitting well....I CAN UNDERSTAND why he might. I don't condone it. I think this is a big blow to the game if it is proven true. (Would just love to see the reaction of CHICAGO is they say, it wasn't cork in the end...some umpires might wake up with horse heads in their beds.....) I think that everybody no matter how good, at times struggles, and it's a hard time to say no to something like this. But, we shall see how it turns out.

One thing I just though about, neither Sosa nor Baker argued much at all. If I was falsely accused I'd be like George Brett when he ran out of the dug out screaming his lungs out.
