Goaty, what is your gamertag...I'll add you to my list as well.

I am "Old Goat" which is the perfect tag for a cranky 42 year old guy like me. It is those damn kids... (from Bernie Mac)

Going to add some of you guys to my friends list, pk500, SlyGuy, Xboxaholic.

Still making lots of dumb mistakes and I want to practice a bit more before I go online. I should be on later this afternoon though.

Then you guys can spank me for b*tching about the graphics. Like one of you said, PNC is really beautiful at night!

I make some mistakes online to. Biggest one is sometimes I'll throw home instead of first. Not sure why this happens but oh well.

And I told you PNC was a sight to see at night.

Indeed it is. I was so impressed that after I finished my IP night game at PNC, I put in WSB 2K3 and played Cubs vs. Pirates in a night game at PNC to compare them.

Guess which game seemed ugly then?

I just wish IP had 480p support to clean up the textures/jaggies and that the "behind the pitcher" cam looked 1/2 as good as WSB.

You guys are sure right about the ballpark size too. I have yet to see a hard grounder roll all the way to wall like happens in WSB when my infielder dives for a shot and misses.

So IP is really growing on me but I gotta improve my hitting. I just realized that I have yet to hit a HR in a game, and I am using the power swing button.

Speaking of which, WTF is up with the power swing button placement? That is really dumb.

I think I may take my created player through the hitting training to see if I can't improve my hitting. Part of my problem is that I have been comparing baseball games so much that my timing is bad.

Going to stick with IP for a while I think, just beat the CPU in a 2-0 10 inning game against Houston. Kerry Wood was constantly pitching out of jams for me and it was a lot of fun.

The parks are flat out amazing, no doubt.

As far as the power swing button, I hardly ever use it. Stick with the normal swing, and use the precision hitting. With the right spot placed, and the right time you'll have no problems jacking some homeruns. The black button seems to pop up alot, especially if you don't hit it dead on.

I've hit about 35 HR's online, just a handful with the black button. And lastly, take your CAP through the hitting, and fielding. Improved my game dramastically. Alot of fun too. Enjoy.

For the second time.... THE GAME DOES SUPPORT 480P. What you are looking at is 480P. You can complain that it doesnt look great... BUT STOP SAYING IT'S NOT 480P

I think you may be confusing the fact that you can get your xbox to output a digital signal (via the dasboard/cable) with true 480p support, which requires double texture resolution in the game's graphics engine.

Sure it looks worse when you dumb down the signal via the dashboard to 480i, but that is not the point.

Anyway, I am not the only one saying that IP does not support 480p, check the reviews and other posts on this board. It is not even checked on the game box (which granted doesn't mean all that much).

But there is a general consensus that graphics engine in IP does not have the resolution to truly support 480p.

                              Line-doubling doesn't count

I have been wrong before. But if I am wrong this time I will blame the OS review:

Overall IP is an average looking XBOX baseball title. It could use some work and definitely needs 480p support next year for the HDTV gamers out there, but it’s not really ugly by any means either. If everything looked as detailed and accurate as the ballparks Microsoft would have, without a doubt, the best-looking baseball game on the market. The parks really are THAT good. Hopefully MS realizes this and is working diligently to bring the rest of the stuff up to that same level of detail. I’m really looking forward to IP 2004 to see if they pull it off because if they do, look out!
