    HH: drivin' me nuts

I am a month into my season and I've won just nine games (18 losses). High Heat Baseball is the most frustrating game I've ever played.

I jumped right in playing a season and expected to struggle for awhile, but I don't seem to be improving at all.

I had won three games in a row, but now I've just lost four straight. I thought I was getting better, but now I've gotten worse. If I get good pitching, my hitting sucks and vice versa.

I lost one game 20-2 and gave up 32 hits. It was more like softball with the opponent hitting everything I tossed up for line drives to the gap. The only way I could throw strikes was to leave it right down the middle -- yeah, good plan.

Also, I've got Puhols (I did a fantasy draft) and he keeps getting hurt. Twice he came back from a DtD injury and reinjured himself the next game.

I just rented this game, so maybe I need to try another. Any advice? I hate baseball games that have those rediculous 16-15 final scores. I like realism.
My NCAA Football online forum lineage goes back to DaBirk and the ORIGINAL NCAA Strategies. I've been playing football video games since the Atari 400 -- in other words, probably before YOU WERE BORN! I am old-school.

I'd say just keep tring. You should be able to pitch with out haveing to put it down the middle. It's hard to desrcibe but you kind of have to get a feel of how to pitch effectively.Don't just nibble on the corners all the time, but don't groove it many times either. If your on a higher level , drop down until you get a better hang of it.

I feel your pain! I've been playing High Heat since Sammy Sosa 2001. Granted, I don't have time to play constantly, so I don't claim to be all that good.

What are your settings? I play on All-Star (with a downloaded tune file). I'm the Pirates, playing at Colorado and lost the first 2 games 9-2 and 8-4. Same thing happens; throw a ball, the batters take and walk. Throw strikes, they get crushed.

However, you won't find a more realistic b-ball game out there. The thing is, this game always keeps me coming back and I don't feel like the CPU cheats me. Think about what your doing. Set up the hitter; play the percentages; adjust your fielders, etc. The CPU in this game is VERY smart. But, with time and effort, you can beat it. Hang in there and keep at it!

One big flaw that I'm surprised no one ever talks about that gets irratating is pitching with a 3-2 count. No matter how good your pitcher is throwwing any kind of directed strike that isn't right down the middle almost always ends up off the plate taken for a walk. I 've seen this happen with Pedro a ton, which is just too frequent. He and a lot of other pitchers can hit their spots 3-2 better than that.

...lol...true....or if you just try to pipe a 3-2 pitch down the middle, it's smacked into the gap for extra bases.

This game is definitely a challenge, and I, too, am only playing on all-Star. (I can only imagine what HOF is like)
                      I'm 8 games under .500 but am still enjoying the complexities of the game.;

After going all the way to the All-Star break with an ASB04 franchise only to find that my game save file disappeared, I began a franchise wtih HH04.
There is no doubt, that of any game I've played in the psst 5 years, I'm getting more realistic results. I find that HH makes me think all the time. I'm constantly having to consider my personel, and ultimately my batting order. Pitch selection and location must be done with a lot of thought as well.
Hang in there. Adjust a slider (although ever so slightly) if you have to. It'll come around.
                      Congratulations BUTLER BULL DOGS!

A changeup on the inside corner seems to be my 3-2 money pitch....even with Royals pitchers. Gets them out in front and they foul off or ground out. Come back with a fastball in same spot if they foul it off.
