I can't imagine Steinbrenner even letting Brian Cashman deal with a dogmeat organization like the Pittsburgh Pirates. We surely don't have anything he'd be interested in, do we?

Honestly, if I'm Littlefield, I hold him up for a king's ransom. We don't have to deal Giles. But, okay, here goes:

Brian Giles and Mike Williams to the Yankees for Jeff Weaver, Nick Johnson, Juan Rivera, and Brandon Claussen. Think the Yanks would make that deal?

Whatever I'd do I wouldn't deal Brain Giles. He's the heart and soul of this ball club right now, and to deal him for Jeff Weaver and some mediocre Yankees would be crazy.

            Cut Young.

Lets face it. Kendall is pretty much untradeable. So if someone, ANYONE is willing to take him, I say do it, even if you get almost nothing in return.

Trade Lofton while he still has value. Remember how he struggled in the 2nd half last season with the Giants? I think they should trade him to someone who needs OF help or needs a lead off hitter. What to get in return? Prospects or pitching.

Question for Buc fans: What OF position does Tike Redman play? If he plays CF, once Loften is dealt, call Redman up, and see how he does.

He is one of the league leaders in stolen bases, 30 SB, and he has only been caught 4 times. Batting .300, sure he doesn't walk much, but he doesn't strike out either. I don't know much about his fielding, but he looks like a good call up. He's only 26, and a lefty.

            Hang onto Wells.

            Trade Sanders.

Trade Williams if a good offer comes up. Mark Corey leads Triple A in Saves.

            I've ran out of ideas.

                  I agree.

The Bucs may be a little hesitant to put their CF fortunes in Tike Redman. He is having a solid season at Nashville, though. Last time he was in Pittsburgh, he looked totally lost. And, his OBP needs to improve if he's going to hit leadoff. However, he is 26 now, so hope he's matured.

Keeping Lofton is a very viable option. I don't think the Pirates have any illusions that Lofton will start 155 games. Maybe 130 or so? Keep him fresh. He's done a great job for us. Having said that, his trade value may not be higher than it is right now.

Basically, my keepers are Ramirez, Giles, Jack Wilson, Simon, Wells, Fogg, Suppan (re-sign him), and my young pitching at AAA and AA. Everybody else can be had in the right deal.

Trade Lofton, Reggie Sanders and Kris Benson. Hope the Yanks will give me Weaver for Benson and maybe throw in Lofton if they wont do it. Then trade Sanders for some decent prospect. I'd do everything I could to get a Benson for Weaver deal done, Weaver was very good in Detroit but sucked in New York. Benson isnt really helping the team so I'd hope that Weaver would thrive once again in a small market with no pressure.
