Sosa,Mcgwire Rodriguez, Clemens etc deserve to be in the hall of fame? in my opinion they should be. The reason why These players should be in the hall of fame is that not only were they entertainers and had the stats it was the fact that Steriods were not illegal at the time. Yes they were preformance enhancing drugs but in all honesty i would have to say a good 85% of the people on these fourms would take steriods or HGH if it meant making the fans happier, making more money and putting up insane stats to boot. yes there are players that did it naturally (like my childhood hero Ken Griffey Jr.) the fact of the matter is that during this period people could take steriods. It was an option that every player has and when someone says "this will make you play better" then i don't fault any person who used PED's. If i were to take a supplement that wasn't illegal to help me improve the way i play a game is that wrong? No it isn't they were trying to get ahead and thats what everyone does they try to beat out the competion. Kudos to all of the Roid users you were great players before using them and great players after it.

The Hall of Fame question
today i'm asking the hall of fame question. do you guys think Bonds,
Sosa,Mcgwire Rodriguez, Clemens etc deserve to be in the hall of fame? in my opinion they should be. IMO:
Bonds-Yes
Clemens-Yes
Rodriguez-Yes
McGwire-Leaning to No
Sosa-Leaning to No -
Re: The Hall of Fame question
Bonds, Clemens and Rodriguez are a yes. McGwire & Sosa fall into the Dave Kingman catagory, HR or bust. So Im gonna say no since they are only Hall worthy because of homeruns only. They brought nothing else to the table.I dont remember there names but they were allot of fun....Comment

Re: The Hall of Fame question
The supplements they took WERE obtained illegally and steroids HAVE been banned by baseball since 1992. Because of the power of the MLBPA, testing wasn't allowed until 2003.
Do you get tested for, say, crystal meth or crack cocaine while at work? No? That doesn't mean that it's okay (or legal) for you to use them.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: The Hall of Fame question
What's your thought on all the current HOF'ers who got there playing hungover and on speed? Just wondering, people always pine for the "good old days" but don't really remember all those players were far from the perfect heroes they have in memories.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: The Hall of Fame question
It's almost like rewarding these guys for outright breaking the law. Barry Bonds more or less outright lied about his use of steroids and the same goes for Clemens. Are you going to reward these guys for that kind of behavior?
Although to answer the question by taking that personal viewpoint away here's how i'd do it:
Bonds- Yes (he had HOF credentials before he roided up)
Clemens- same thing
McGwire and Sosa= Dave Kingman so nope to them
Rodriguez- Well this is the hard one for me. A part of me thinks he shouldn't but if the testing is as stringent as I hope it should be and he's never caught again then I guess he gets in.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: The Hall of Fame question
You're right about that but I put no to these guys because they were stupid enough to get caught. I mean, I never saw Mickey Mantle getting thrown to court for being a drunk or any other players getting in trouble for using greenies and such.

I don't know where I stand on this issue, but just pointing out that all the people pining for the "clean era" of baseball need to wake up and realize they've always been taking some sort of drugs and the MLB just didn't care.Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-7009-7102-8818Comment

Re: The Hall of Fame question
Negative on them all.
....
....
and thank you Dr Jones for pointing out that there in fact was a policy in place.
I've linked the rule so many times in these kinds of conversations.....I'm gettin' worn down!
I have no idea why guys think that there was "nothing in the rules against steroids" when these guys were taking them.
mgo...
Booze and speed vs. PED's? Are you really going to try and compare the benefit to athletics in the two? C'mon.
