Absolute stone cold lock for the HoF. An all-time great at his position.

Odds are he'll get in next year.

Don't forget that the first 3 years of his career he was a very solid catcher. He'll definitely find his way to Cooperstown for sure.

Why is Biggio a stone cold lock? Is it because of his position?

That's a big part of it. How many primary second basemen were better than Biggio for a longer period of time?

            Not many.

Bill Jame's man crush (along with Frank White for some reason)...he always loved Biggio, especially from like 1996-1999. Biggio was outstanding. Without looking at it, I don't know who I would take between Alomar/Biggio in the 1990's.

Was kinda pissed he didn't make it this year. The voters overdid the outrage a bit much and he got penalized for it.

Biggio is easily a top 10 2Bman of all time (tough time cracking the top 5 with Hornsby/Sandberg/Alomar/Robinson/Collins), but is on par with Rod Carew, Frankie Frisch, and better than Joe Morgan (all in HoF). Over 3,000 hits (more than Carew), 291 HRs (more than Sandberg), 400+ SBs. 5th all-time in doubles, 15th in runs, 32nd in XBHs, played 3 critical positions well. Gritty, tough player who would do anything to win (2nd all time in HBP) and as mentioned could play basically anywhere on the diamond and hit anywhere in the order.

The only thing I can think of working against him is his Stros got close a lot but never won it all, and his postseason numbers are very underwhelming.

In my book, Biggio is 100% worthy of the Hall.

That's an interesting top 5...I put Joe Morgan up there and even would go so far as to call Morgan a Top 3 2B of all time. Sandberg doesn't belong, IMO, and I'd take Morgan over Collins or Robinson (to be fair, Robinson's peak is small because prejudice).

I am too young to have watched the Big Red Machine (and remember it), but the numbers don't back you up on Joe Morgan, imo. He was a very solid player who played a long time, but I almost question whether he gets HoF without being on a dynasty team.

EDIT: and Sandberg is my favorite all time, so of course I think he's up there.

Good stuff guys, not really a huge expert on Biggio, I'll have to look at the stats. But he was a tremendous hitter for a 2nd basemen and good power, He had alot of longevity, and he was a good defender, and could play multiple positions. That's all I know.

Here's one that I should probably search on, but any takers on Barry Bonds? I'd put him as a yes personally.

Yes, absolutely, minus steroids, he was still a hall of famer, he didn't even need steroids.

That's what's so sad. He was already a five tool player.

Yes for me. One of the few steroid era players I would vote in.

I gotta think Griffey will get in but that's probably already been discussed. I really want to go see him inducted.

There are things I disagree with, and then there are things that I disagree with.

This is the latter. I find this opinion on Morgan to be completely indefensible in pretty much every conceivable way.
