How does this guy look at himself in the mirror? He's getting paid 24 million dollars to do less than Pujols who makes $900,000 right now?

He is struggling out of his mind only 22 homers. Serioulsy, yes he isn't playing up to 'expectations' but he is still the best player in baseball. Gold Glove defense, 22 homers at the Short Stop postion......who else can do that?

I honestly don't know why people slam on A-Rod for him getting as much money as he is. IIRC, when he was a free agent, the highest contract offer he got was for $160 million....then comes along the Texas Rangers who make an offer of $252 million. Honestly...who would pass up an offer of $92 million more than your current high? You can't blame him for that.

Anyways, he may be playing slightly below what he has in the past, but I wouldn't call either of his previous seasons "Below Expectations".

                  2001: .318 Avg, 52 HR, 135 RBI, .399 OBP, .622 SLG
                  2002: .300 Avg, 57 HR, 142 RBI, .392 OBP, .623 SLG

And, a Gold Glove in 2002.
Aoccdrnig to a rscheearch at Cmabrigde Uinervtisy, it deosn't mttaer in waht oredr the ltteers in a wrod are, the olny iprmoatnt tihng is taht the frist and lsat ltteer be at the rghit pclae. The rset can be a ttoal jmulbe and you can sitll raed it wouthit a porbelm. Tihs is bcuseae the huamn mnid deos not raed ervey lteter by istlef, but the wrod as a wlohe.

                  amzanig huh?

his average is low cause he's being asked to swing for the fences more...Rafael Palmeiro has also been asked to swing for for the fences and produce more runs...That's why his AVG has dropped.

How am I crazy? He's getting paid 24 million and he's doing worse than a guy who makes 900,000. Everybody says he just picked the highest offer, but if I were him I'd give back a lot of the money and demand they sign some actual pitchers. I'm sure he could do better than some guy named Benoit..?
