What a total ripoff. Clemens doesn't have the stats to go there and compete. How the hell can a pitcher with an 8-6 record be put on the team? Cause he has 300 wins and 4000 Strikeouts? And this is his last season? So he deserves to be on the team? I bet Steinbrenner paid that dip**** Bud Selig to let him on the team.

Clemens over Barry? That's insane.

He doesn't play the game the way it needs to be played (hence the Piazza incident in '00) and is not worthy of an AS selection. If he was worthy, then why wasn't he selected to begin with?

Just because this is his last year in the bigs doesn't mean he should be casted into the game at the 11th hour.

I know it may be shady with this whole Clemens thing but if this is indeed his last year (I doubt it tho) then I don't see what's so wrong about it. Look at guys like Ozzie Smith, Mike Schmidt, Tony Gwynn and other legendary players who were on all star games because it was their last year or because the fans wanted to see them in that kind of atmosphere.

So don't be hipocritical. I'm sure in a few years from now when Griffey, Maddux, Randy Johnson, Piazza, and Schilling are in the midst of their last year someone is going to say "boy I hope _____ is on the all star team so he can have one last time to shine" etc etc.
