Re: When will Tim McCarver learn

I've always said the SF Giants have the best announcers.

I just forgot their names at the moment, but they can call a game.

Most of the people watching the game ARE stupid.

And, he was 100% correct about the rule in the Furcal situation. Maybe if you took some time from bashing him, you'd realize that.

In the situation with Furcal in the All-Star game, the umps were right - it is not a ground rule double and the umpires can put the runners where they believe they would have ended up.

Tha being said, Joe Morgan is the worst announcer EVER. Tim McCarver is second for that title. I do not understand how either one of these guys have jobs announcing, let alone the fact that they are the "top" announcers on their respective stations. They unfortunatly are paired up with a couple of good play-by-play guys (Joe Buck and Jon Miller [I think this is one of the Giants announcers you were looking for]) who's biggest flaws are that they encourage Tim McCarver and Joe Morgan. Steve Lyons is pretty bad. How can FOX have good football announcers, but horrible baseball announcers. ESPN needs to give Tony Gwynn, David Justice, or Jeff Brantley Joe Morgan's job. Or Buck Martinez.

totally agree. When they made the bogus call on that ground rule double that the fan touched, McCarver could not stop talking about just because Furcal was fast meant that he automatically should score. But if it's a slow guy, then hold him up at 3rd. He had them freaking slow the replay down to show where Furcal was when the fan grabbed the ball and went into detail trying to explain this crap. Wow, what a great commentator.

What's wrong with this? I mean, God-forbid that a baseball analyst should actually try to analyze something.

I think McCarver is okay. He's a former catcher, and he can give some insight to the pitching-hitting battle. He's not great, but he gives some valuable information.

I have to agree with you. I never mind hearing all those unimportant tidbits that surround the game. Fans complain that the game is so slow and boring, yet when someone tries and pass the time by talking about diff aspects of the game and/or analysis, they wanna bash him too for opening his mouth. I don't get people sometimes.

I can't stand McCarver. And a few years ago he was a regular announcer for the Yankees.

I just wish NBC or someone could get the playoffs and world series back so we don't have to listen to him.
