2010 Spring Training Discussion Thread
Since today is the first day pitchers and catchers report....I figured we can get a general Spring Training discussion thread going.
I'll kick it off by two of the most beautiful, inspiring, and true quotes---
It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone. You count on it, rely on it to buffer the passage of time, to keep the memory of sunshine and high skies alive, and then just when the days are all twilight, when you need it most, it stops.
Of course, there are those who learn after the first few times. They grow out of sports. And there are others who were born with the wisdom to know that nothing lasts. These are the truly tough among us, the ones who can live without illusion, or without even the hope of illusion. I am not that grown-up or up-to-date. I am a simpler creature, tied to more primitive patterns and cycles. I need to think something lasts forever, and it might as well be that state of being that is a game; it might as well be that, in a green field, in the sun.Tags: None -

Re: 2010 Spring Training Discussion Thread
You must have missed the huge four team trade earlier today. Felix, Timmy, and Chris Carpenter to the Royals for Alberto Callaspo, David DeJesus, Alex Gordon, Yuniesky Betancourt, Jose Guillen, and Sluggerrr.
I'm not sure why the Cards wanted Sluggerrr. I guess they were jealous and were willing to give up whatever they needed to get him.Comment

Re: 2010 Spring Training Discussion Thread
The Jays are staring 100 loses in a season for the first time in 31 years and ALREADY we got bad news as Scott Richmond injured his shoulder gearing up for ST. I'm hoping it's nothing serious but at least AA signed a boat load of pitchers so it might not be THAT bad.

Zach Grienke, Gil Meche, Brian Bannister, Luke Hochever, Kyle Davies
Or
Mark Buehrle, Jake Peavy, Gavin Floyd, John Danks, Freddy Garcia
That's what I thought.Last edited by 19; 02-17-2010, 06:11 PM.Comment
