Re: Where Will Pujols Go
Tough call...
You can look at it from a couple of different ways.
I actually think it would have been an easier decision for him ironically if they had not won.
1. After the WS win he feels like he has accomplished everything at STL and now it is time for a new challenge....
OR
2. He feels how can he leave now after all that happened this season......Comment

I don't know now.....I do think if the Cards want him badly enough they'll offer him a stake in team ownership and a 30+ mil a year deal.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Is it even legal to offer a player partial ownership of a team?Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
I'm not sure, probably not really but we've seen situations where players in other sports and in the past have been offered some kind of equity in the team.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
Staying in St. Louis seems logical, but then again LeBron last year proved to me that the craziest scenario could happen. Who expected Cliff Lee to go to Philly? Nobody. I can't picture Pujols leaving, and I couldn't picture LeBron and they both meant so much to their sport/team. So I guess anything could happen.
The Rangers number 8 hitter hit .320 with 30 homeruns, they are Ok offensively so I don't see them spending 200 mil on another bat. They need pitching. They don't have a number 1 starter or 'ace', Wilson is not that guy. I think they will be too focused on pitching to mess with Fielder, especially Pujols.Last edited by CabreraMVP; 10-30-2011, 12:10 AM.JayElectronicaBluElzhi2PacTheNotoriousB.I.G.ReksSc arfaceFashawnJeruThaDamajaComment

With that said, I agree that they will probably go after pitching. I also believe they would go after Fielder harder than Pujols.Fan of....

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
The only reason I could see him leaving now is that Tony's gone, but even if Tony stayed, he would have had a new manager anyway. He has stated that his biggest concern is winning, he just won, why leave?
You also have to remember his family and everything they do around town. What would Didi do?

I mean, he's almost gotta stay now right?? What more can a player really ask for? Defending champs, great baseball city, great fans, a good solid team with some young talent around you, and the the suits are gonna throw the bank at you. If he leaves he's just bein greedy, bottom line.Comment

Re: Where Will Pujols Go
In reality, this really does make sense. The Angels would be happy to give him the money and actually be able to sign one of their big free agent targets (ex.: Crawford, Beltre), and it would put the finishing touches on making their team dominant all-around once again. Plus, he would be the biggest name in all of Los Angeles sports.
The Cardinals can't afford him anymore with the contracts of all the big-name pitchers and Matt Holliday, and they didn't leave much room for Mr. Pujols. Especially now after Carpenter's extension. Someone even wrote something on ESPN saying the GM Mozeliak is "bolstering the roster" to prepare for Pujols' departure.
The only other team I would think would be able to sign him would be the other Los Angeles team, the Dodgers. I think he's going to an LA team no matter what, but more likely the Angels. I'm calling it now and I will not budge from this prediction.
Called it!Comment
