These guys really need to become legit big leaguers. I want a chance to watch the Royals actually play meaningful games at some point in my life.Ryan Spencer

Re: July 5th - July 11th MLB Discussion (Week 14)
C.C. Sabathia can now add his name to the list, as he becomes just the sixth Yankees pitcher to earn at least 12 victories before the All-Star break. Also his 8th win in a row for the first time in his career.
Marcus Thames chipped in a two-run home run in the fifth, while Mark Teixeira had four hits, including two doubles and two runs scored. Derek Jeter added a two-run double. The offense provided more than enough for the pitching today, as New York coasted to an 8-2 win over the Seattle Mariners and will finish the first half with the best record in baseball.
With one game left to be played before the break, I hope everyone has enjoyed the first half of the season.Comment

Cliff Lee's debut last night was rough but there was a good crowd and the pre-game Mike Young ceremony was good. Fireworks after the game as well. Had fun with the family.
I can't believe Texas got swept by the O's...
At least the Angels still suck too.Comment

I just want to put it out there and maybe the fans of both teams can agree or disagree with me but it seems the Rockies and Padres have developed quite the little rivalry out west. It seems like those guys play pretty entertaining games against each other the last few years and more often then not they mean something.

You're probably right but I do see something percolating and while the Rockies are dominating it to an extent you can say that about most rivalries at one point or another.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: July 5th - July 11th MLB Discussion (Week 14)
I think a rivalry has developed since the Matt Holliday home plate call in 2007. The games are competitive but the Rockies I believe have the advantage in wins over the course of the past few seasons. Whether one team is dominating the series or not shouldn't matter (unless you don't want to consider the Giants and Dodgers rivals because of that same circumstance).Comment

I'm thoroughly bummed out that the White Sox could lose some of their fire during this break.
25 out of our last 30. That's awesome, hopefully we don't fall into a lull after the break.Comment

Wow. So Texas gets Lee, and then proceeds to be swept by BAL...At Home...
I'm pulling for Texas though, I'd like to see them win the AL West.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

That was a brutal series but Texas still holds a nice little lead in the West.Comment
