I'm not going to let you get away with that straw man.

        Here's what you said:

"Sorry fellas, Infante deserved an all-star spot. No way Atlanta would be leading the division without him."

Infante is an Atlanta Braves utility All-Star, but there's no way he should have made the All-Star team over...where do I even begin? I'm also pretty sure a 1.1 WAR utility player isn't the difference between leading the division and trailing the Phillies.

He's a FEARED utility player though. And he's clutch too!!!

Definitely should have made it over Votto IMO.

Hey, tonight Keith Hernandez was touting his "clutch" abilities stating that he leads the majors in RISP avg. since 2006. Of course, that is 250+ plate appearances, or around 50 PA per season. Sample size...sample size..sample size.

Way, way too much objective analysis and not enough "He's a ****ing gamer" logic.

BTW, we ridicule announcer/analyst stupidity in the Dusty Baker thread!

Olson, all I ever see you do is argue and continually post Sabermeteric "evidence". I still don't know what team you even like. Regardless, the term "all-star" in the baseball realm has become diluted as there were nearly 80 players deemed such.

I'm not having a homer moment, however with the extensive injuries and shortcomings (Prado's injuries, Escobar's discontentment and lack of performance, Chipper's age, etc.) Atlanta has faced, Infante has performed admirably.

But go ahead, continue to show me sabermetric stats. As always in most cases, there's more to it than meets than eye and there's a far greater story than what the numbers/box score shows.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Which is the entire point of message boards.

I also did not know I was required to publicly state my favorite team (which is the Dodgers BTW). Concise analysis of my favorite team can be found here.

                  ?

I criticized you more from a common-sense perspective than from a "sabermetric stat" perspective. Even your fellow Braves fan found your statement to be quite ridiculous.

Good display of poormeism though. Sarcasm is not for the weak-of-heart.

Which is one million times better than relying on a bunch subjective, unsupportable hyperbole as "evidence."

I still don't know what team you even like.
                    Irrelevant.

Red herring. This is a different matter entirely, one that doesn't excuse in any way selecting an inferior player for a game designed to showcase the game's elite.

                    Some of that unsupported hyperbole.

"very well" meaning not a Career Ending Injury but a season ending one?

                        I'm confused as to "Very-Well".

Either way, glad his leg is still attached at the knee after that collision

So I thought we were speaking of a guitarist...I googled "Santana Indians" and this is the first link:

Cleveland Indian Carlos Santana Got What He Deserved
It’s harsh to beat up on a player just after he gets hurt, but after watching the video of the big collision in tonight’s Indians-Red Sox game, I just don’t feel as much sympathy for Carlos Santana as perhaps I should...

They are saying that there is no massive damage to his ACL or MCL

                            What a moron.

Even still...Santana should have a lot of torn things. Maybe not a totally shattered knee/lower leg but it should still have something wrong.
His jersey says "Cleveland" on the front, so I'm sure something will be torn or broken and he'll miss the rest of the year.
