I'm assuming that you're talking about RBIs, runs, hits, average.. these are meaningless statistics

Meaningless??????? I've heard some dumb remarks in my time, but this one ranks right up there.

Who needs RBI's and runs anyway? It's not like the team with the most runs wins. Everybody know the team with the highest slugging and on-base percentages wins the game.

What is this amateur night? I think I'm going to stick with BBSC for a while until this board learns to think before they speak. Is it fair that Pujols has more chances at getting rbis and Bonds? No. Is it fair that Bonds gets on base 50% of the time and Pujosl gets on 43% of the time? Yes, because it's entirely based on the hitter. Rbis and runs are based on who's in front of you and who's behind you in the order. Ok, so they're not meaningless, but they are much, much less meaningful than OPS.

Actually, his post made a whole lot of sense... I mean, it really is situational... that's why Bonds doesn't get the RBI's he can, just like last night... 1st and 3rd, they intentionally walk him. Bonds has a great chance to drive in a run, but ACCORDING to the situation, he gets walked instead of getting a chance to hit. In Bonds's situations, he gets pitched around and walked when runners are in scoring position... that's another reason he doesn't have many RBI's, because they only really pitch to him when no runners are on, and that's when he gets his homeruns. Pujols on the other hand gets pitched to and yeah.

He's totally right about which stats REALLY matter most and which stats can mean fluff in some circumstances.

Come back when you can make a contribution. Instead of shaking your head at reality and intelligence, provide some proof why rbis are the key to the MVP. Actually, since you can't provide proof as to why rbis get you the MVP, just don't come back.
