    Derek Jeter

Derek Jeter is a free agent this year, where do you think he will land? Or will he remain a Yankee? I was watching the MLB Network and they said the Arizona Diamondbacks are interested in him. I was like 'woah, wait a minute' Derek Jeter is a Hall of Famer and the Yankee Captain they can't just get rid of him.

I did further research and it appears Girardi and Jeter bumped heads a lot and this doesn't come as a surprise that the Yankees are going after Carl Crawford in the free agency market.

    What are your thoughts?

There is no possible way Jeter ever wears a uniform that doesn't have Yankee pinstripes on it. No way.

I can't see it happening. Plus, wasn't he making like 20 mill a season or something ridiculous like that? He's awesome, a beacon of consistency, but he's really overpaid at this point. He's getting up there in age, and while the bat still plays, his skills in other areas will be diminishing, and have already started to. Plus the durability issues. I don't really think too many teams would even be interested in him, at his price. Besides, Jeter not a Yankee? That would just seem weird.

I've always liked Derek Jeter, I don't care at all that he's a Yankee, he's been a fine ballplayer since the 90's and provided many entertaining moments.

No chance he leaves. He's worth way more to the Yankees than anyone else.

I also never heard anything about Jeter and Girardi not getting along, so unless that story came out really recently, I doubt it's true.

And I'm sure the Yankees will monitor the Crawford situation and get involved, but I'd be really surprised if they actually signed him.

You just opened a whole can of worms.

People should ask themselves how he would be perceived if he had spent his entire career with a team like the Pirates or Royals.

Jeter and the Yankees need each other. I can't see any other team ponying up the super big bucks he'd potentially get resigning with the Yanks.

Plus, seeing Jeter in another uniform would probably cause the universe to explode.

Would he be a HOFer had he spent his entire career playing for the Royals?

Would he be a HOFer if he played his entrie career with the Red Sox or any other good/great team in the last 10 years? You cant just blame the Yankees and say they are the only reason why he is a HOFer.

Yes, just wouldn't have been the first balloter that he'll end up being as a Yankee.

(until he gets to 3,000 hits anyway, that's an automatic 1st ballot anywhere)

A lot of the argument for Jeter is based on stuff he has done in the postseason. What if he had played in KC his whole career and never made it to the postseason?

Is he still good enough to be a HOFer?

There's really no can of worms. Nobody debates this anymore. There's a lot of really good reasons why he'd be a hall of famer no matter what, but none of them even matter because he's going to reach 3000 hits next year and will obviously get in.

If he had never played a postseason game, he'd still be a lock.

He would be a lock on any team he was on. He is going to reach 3000 hits this season and Yankee or not he has put up the 2nd best offensive numbers from a SS in the past 15 years (A-Rod being #1).

Also I've also seen reports that the Yankees won't be in on either Crawford or Werth. Fact is, Gardner and Swisher provide similar production at those position and they are cheaper. Also the Steinbrenner's have said they don't plan to increase payroll and with the amount of money that will go into signing Jeter, Rivera, and trying to lock down Cliff Lee, that will put them around $200M, which they don't want to go that far over.
