HANDS DOWN the greatest player, not to mention does he still put up consistent numbers with a loss of his father, groin injuries, high-blood pressure, pitchers pitching around him with breaking pitches (tougher to get a better average), unintentional-intentional walks, intentional walks, the hardest ballpark to hit a homerun for lefties, Bonds specialists coming in to face him in late innings, the inevitable feeling of a stolen WS ring (basically stolen by the Angels), surgery on elbow before the season started, and the Bonds shift, which prevents about 90% of his hits hit over there that would be a hit for anyone else.

he's good. But if he ever wants to be comsidered the best in my book, take off the armor and stand that close to the plate....

Dude, did you read the previous post? He had surgery on that elbow. He never wore that pad before he started having problems with the elbow either.

I guess Wayne Gretzky wasn't a very good hockey player either.

For that matter, Jason Vorhees is a wimp 'cuz he wears a hockey mask.

I couldn't agree more. He's become larger than life.

I've been watching sports my whole life, and never, EVER before have I actually come to the point where I was 100% EXPECTING something to happen, except for when Bonds is at bat. He's the most dominant athlete I've ever seen, with perhaps the exception of Jerry Rice in his prime.

I couldn't agree more. He's become larger than life.

I've been watching sports my whole life, and never, EVER before have I actually come to the point where I was 100% EXPECTING something to happen, except for when Bonds is at bat. He's the most dominant athlete I've ever seen, with perhaps the exception of Jerry Rice in his prime.

That and many other things too, but this thread is about praising him, so let's leave the bashing for next time. Like when he open's him mouth about Ruth, along with other things. He's undoubtedly the most *dominant*, not best, player in sports right now. That you can respect.

If you want to slob on Giambi's knob do it somewhere else. Start another thread. Write an essay. Entitle it "the underrated Diplodocus of Gotham"...

As for Bonds. I will confess to not being his greatest fan in times past, but I've gotten over that in the last few years and can honestly say it's been a pleasure watching him play ball. We'll remember what he's doing now for the rest of our lives.
